Salomon had to admit that even though the history books had spelled it out clearly, he still had not learned his lesson. He had severely underestimated the madness of monotheism. Before this, Bishop Ragnar had led his followers in suicide to celebrate the coming of Jubileus's Easter. Now, the Sage Balder planned to celebrate with the lives of an entire city. It was not difficult to understand.
The Sorcerer Supreme had assured him that the angels would not harm Cereza, nor would Balder. But missiles had no eyes, and explosions and shockwave did not distinguish between identities. Cereza currently had his familiar, that gray short-haired fae cat, by her side, along with a demon, Phoenix.
Even so, Salomon was not convinced that Cereza could survive a missile strike. The destructive power of human-made weapons had long surpassed that of many spells. If there were really as many missiles as Luca claimed, then even conventional warheads would be enough to destroy the entire city.
"Salomon, what are you going to do?!" Luca shouted from the other end of the phone. "You're not seriously going to wait until those missiles launch, are you?"
Salomon looked out over the sea near Wigrid's Sun Island. An invisible giant whale rose from the ocean, gray seawater streaming down its unseen form. Though his view was obscured by the vast curtain of rain and he could not see the details clearly, he could sense the whale rolling painfully across the surface. Even the Arcanists far away on the reefs could hear its agonized howls from another world through the rain. The whale churned up wild waves and violent currents without any pattern. It was likely the cause of the enormous whirlpools in the waters around Sun Island.
That giant whale was very likely Sapientia, the Angel
