History
Tushan was one of four great ancient fox clans, alongside Qingqiu, Yousu, and Chunhu. During a war that spread across several worlds, heavenly fire devastated the clans. The former Fox King gave her life to preserve Tushan; the other three clans vanished from its reach, and Tushan was sealed away 40 41 43.
Tushan Zhaoli succeeded the fallen king. Her true form remains sealed within the clan’s territory, while the figure that meets Cen Yu is a phantom. The seal continually drains her power 40 42 44.
Territory and Daily Life
- Landscape — The approach to Tushan has green mountains, drifting mist, a mountain gate bearing the Nine-Tailed Sky Fox emblem, and spiritual energy noticeably denser than that of most places on Douluo Continent 40.
- Declining resources — Tushan Jinci says its spiritual energy was more than a hundred times denser before the catastrophe. By Cen Yu’s visit, food is scarce enough that other livestock are preserved for breeding, while clan food is prioritized for the young 40 42.
- Human forms — Many foxes live in human form, which Jinci considers more convenient for daily life than their beast forms 41.
- Unstable time — Before the catastrophe, one day in Tushan equaled one year outside. Its time flow has since become unpredictable 43.
Leadership and Clan Customs
- Fox King — A successor must reach nine tails and gain the recognition of the other foxes, but cannot take the throne until the reigning king dies or abdicates. The king’s bloodline suppresses attempts at disloyalty, even when the king is gravely wounded 41.
- Royal powers — Tushan’s royal family comprises nine types of foxes. Their nine powers converge into the pure white associated with the Fox King 41.
- Ceremonial Officer — Tushan Lingyi holds this office and oversees Cen Yu’s party during their stay 40.
- Ancestral grounds — The souls of deceased nine-tailed foxes are preserved there and pay respects to the reigning king 47.
Boundary Anchors and Inheritance
- Boundary Anchors — Tushan placed these objects in other realms so displaced clansmen could find their way home. Each is one-way and usable only once; the anchor on Douluo Continent brought Cen Yu’s party to Tushan and is presumed to have shattered afterward 43.
- Inheritance Blood Pool — The long-sealed pool is opened for Cen Yu’s Chaos Sky Fox inheritance. Ancestral spirits and assembled foxes contribute spiritual power, causing a gateway to an inheritance ground to form within it; the destination differs for each fox 47.
- Blessing Ceremony — For a Chaos Sky Fox’s bloodline awakening, attending clan members each offer a portion of their power to help the recipient grow 46.
Story Role
Cen Yu reaches Tushan through a Boundary Anchor with Guang Ling and Azure Luan. After Tushan Jinci attacks the two elders, Zhaoli intervenes, heals them, and invites the party into the clan’s territory 37 39 40.
While staying in Tushan, Cen Yu converts his spirit power into spiritual energy with Jinci’s help. A bloodline test then reveals his connection to the fox clan. Tushan gathers its senior foxes and opens the Inheritance Blood Pool for him, treating his arrival as a possible turning point for the struggling clan 43 45 46 47.
