Diarmuid's Wish

Even Shen Mo hadn't expected Lancer to get a chance at Chest Opening.

The knight didn't really have a wish of his own.

Or rather, his wish was to choose a lord and keep winning victories for that lord.

Shen Mo wasn't sure whether a wish like that qualified him for Chest Opening.

So when Sola used her Command Spells to order Lancer to draw a Badge, make an offering, and obtain Jars, Shen Mo appeared.

His sudden appearance startled Lancer, but before he could react, he realized everything around him had frozen in time. Sola still wore an expectant expression, and even the hem of her raised skirt hung motionless in midair.

That made it clear who stood before him.

"Diarmuid greets the Lord of Destiny." Lancer bowed respectfully to Shen Mo.

"I'm in a bit of a bind, Diarmuid."

Shen Mo stroked Hikari on his shoulder as he addressed the warrior by name.

Diarmuid kept his head lowered.

"The Jars I bring are a Gift for those who harbor wishes. A powerful wish, and the will to sacrifice everything for it—that is what matters to me," Shen Mo said slowly.

Diarmuid understood his meaning at once.

Do I qualify?

He should have. He would sacrifice everything for his lord.

Yet he no longer qualified.

His lord had abandoned him. Whether he considered his wish or his faith in Chivalry, the thought caused him unbearable pain.

"You only qualify when you have a lord," Shen Mo continued. "So choose a new one. If you want my advice, Kaineth, who has lost his fiancée, might be a good choice."

Kaineth with a fiancée and Kaineth without one were practically two different people.
