Background

Wang Yiyang grew up under the influence of his grandfather, Wang Xinlong, the master of the Yuekong Martial Arts Hall. Although Wang Xinlong wanted him to inherit the hall, Wang Yiyang stubbornly refused martial arts training; their conflict once left him with a ruptured spleen. They gradually reconciled after Wang Yiyang entered university. 2

At the beginning of the story, he investigates the apparent murder of his grandfather, allegedly committed by senior disciple Zhong Can. He doubts the official explanation because Zhong Can seemingly could not have killed Wang Xinlong and the other hall members so quickly. 1
