Background / History

Zhong Can was found by Wang Xinlong during a global famine, when he was nearly ten years old. His origins and parents were unknown. Wang Xinlong took him in as an adopted son in all but name and trained him at Yuekong Martial Arts Hall, where Zhong Can became the eldest disciple and Wang Xinlong's most gifted successor candidate. 1 6 27

He possessed innate divine strength, exceptional talent, and an unusually rapid ability to learn Moon Sky Fist and other martial arts. However, his outward calm concealed a violent temperament and an obsession with pushing martial arts beyond their limits. His tournament performances improved sharply after he began pursuing fear as a weapon, but Wang Xinlong rejected this path as crooked. 3 27

While using the alias Black Silkworm, Zhong Can secretly coordinated with an associate named Dada to arrange Wang Yiyang's death as a car accident if necessary. His encounter with Wang Yiyang by the river instead became a philosophical confrontation: Zhong Can advocated crushing opponents psychologically through terror, while Wang Yiyang argued that reputation could achieve victory without bloodshed. 2 3

Mantis used technology to help Zhong Can break his limits, but he resisted becoming fully controlled by the organization. After killing six masked figures sent to confront him, he received demands to either abandon or destroy Yuekong Martial Arts Hall. His growing resentment culminated in a confrontation with Wang Xinlong, whom he called one of his “shackles,” before fighting Mantis martial artists outside the hall. 22 27 28

Wang Yiyang subdued Zhong Can through layered poisons, paralysis nanobots, anesthetic rounds, and superior firepower. While imprisoned, Zhong Can advanced to the Grand Justice rank. Wang Yiyang then offered him freedom in return for ten years of service, reinforced the arrangement through hypnosis, and implanted a chip near Zhong Can's heart. 31 32 41 42

As part of Mister Group, Zhong Can served as Wang Yiyang's principal martial combatant. He trained Wang Yiyang, captured Yuliya, defeated Mohado and Xinsaike, and led assaults using advanced protective equipment and weapons. Zhong Can accepted the danger of receiving the Final Potion's full dosage at once, despite a forty-percent risk of disability or death. During his later journey, Zhong Can was reported dead in the Sumile Empire. He survived long enough to evade repeated ambushes in the Anluo Jungle, protect and teach an unnamed boy survival skills, and confront a dark-green-armored pursuer despite his severely festering legs. After joining Wang Yiyang, gaining greater control over his violent impulses, and receiving comprehensive enhancement, Zhong Can became more balanced and composed.
