Lin Mu stole Hashirama Cells, awakened Wood Release, and helped defeat Gaara during Orochimaru’s invasion of Konoha. After Hiruzen’s death, Lin Mu trained and gained Jiraiya’s support, who invited him to travel with him to find Tsunade.

• Lin Mu entered Orochimaru’s hidden base, took Hashirama Cells, and activated the system before escaping back to Konoha.
• The Hashirama Cells transformed Lin Mu’s body and gave him Wood Release as Orochimaru realized he had taken the cells and vowed to find him.
• During the invasion, Lin Mu joined Shikamaru and helped fight Otogakure attackers before setting out after Naruto and the others.
• Lin Mu fought Gaara’s monstrous form, then used a Deep Forest Bloom experience card to suppress Shukaku and put him to sleep.
• Naruto persuaded Gaara to reconsider his relationships with Temari and Kankuro, and the group returned to Konoha with the wounded Naruto.

After the Third Hokage’s death, Jiraiya took Naruto and Lin Mu to find Tsunade, while Itachi and Kisame attempted to capture Naruto. Lin Mu defeated Kisame and helped Sasuke recover, then traveled with Naruto as he began training to master the Rasengan.

• Sunagakure discovered the Kazekage’s corpse, while Jiraiya refused the Hokage position and left to find Tsunade.
• Asuma, Kurenai, and Kakashi fought Itachi and Kisame, but Itachi trapped Kakashi in Tsukuyomi before Might Guy helped drive the intruders away.
• Jiraiya took Naruto and Lin Mu to the Post Town, where Itachi and Kisame tried to capture Naruto and Sasuke confronted his brother.
• Lin Mu used a Wood Golem to defeat Kisame, took Samehada, and returned as Itachi trapped Sasuke in Tsukuyomi.
• Jiraiya trapped Itachi and Naruto in the Rock Lodging Great Toad’s esophagus, but Itachi escaped with Amaterasu and left Sasuke gravely injured.
• Lin Mu transferred chakra to Sasuke and healed him, then grew stronger and tested his Wood Dragon technique on the Nine-Tails inside Naruto.
• Jiraiya demonstrated the Rasengan and began teaching Naruto, who trained for days before bursting a water balloon and moving on to a rubber ball.

Lin Mu fought off a Root squad and continued training with Naruto and Jiraiya as they traveled to find Tsunade. They found her wrestling with Orochimaru’s offer and her own grief, and Lin Mu challenged her after she rejected the Hokage position.

• Lin Mu killed a pack of Moon Wolves, then fought and wiped out a Root squad sent to capture him for Shimura Danzō, earning enough gold to move closer to the Wood Human Technique.
• Lin Mu returned to town and met Naruto Uzumaki, whose determination to become Hokage was renewed after Lin Mu treated his injured hands and Jiraiya encouraged his training.
• Jiraiya, Lin Mu, and Naruto set out for Tanzaku Town to find Tsunade, while Orochimaru and Kabuto Yakushi sought her help to heal Orochimaru’s arms.
• Orochimaru offered to revive Nawaki and Dan Katō if Tsunade healed him, but Tsunade struggled with the offer and the knowledge that Orochimaru intended to destroy Konoha.
• Jiraiya found Tsunade with Shizune and asked her to become the Fifth Hokage, while Naruto challenged her refusal and Lin Mu showed her his Wood Release chakra.
• Tsunade declared Lin Mu a member of the Senju Clan, then mocked the Hokage and provoked Naruto into a brief fight before challenging Lin Mu.
• Lin Mu attacked Tsunade with Wood Style techniques and seven clones, but she overwhelmed his assault and shattered his arm when he struck her with Explosive Spear Tree.

Tsunade faced Orochimaru’s offer to revive Nawaki and Dan, but Naruto’s perseverance reminded her of their dreams and helped her overcome her fear of blood. Lin Mu defeated Orochimaru’s summoned snake, awakened senjutsu, and joined the battle before Tsunade accepted the title of Fifth Hokage and the Sannin summoned their beasts.

• Tsunade wagered her precious pendant that Naruto would master the Rasengan within a week, while Shizune explained the necklace’s tragic history and Tsunade remembered Nawaki and Dan.
• Orochimaru confronted Lin Mu about his Wood Release and Hashirama cells, then tried to lure Tsunade into healing his arms in exchange for reviving Nawaki and Dan.
• Tsunade refused to betray Konoha, and she and Kabuto fought until Kabuto triggered her fear of blood, and Lin Mu and Jiraiya joined the battle as Orochimaru’s forces attacked.
• Lin Mu drew Orochimaru’s two-headed snake into the forest, broke through to mid-level jonin, absorbed a Hashirama template fragment, and awakened senjutsu before defeating the snake.
