"Just so we're clear, I get all the heads later."
"No problem."
The two reached an agreement and said no more. They headed straight for the nightclub.
The vampires standing guard outside immediately grew wary and barked, "Stop! Who are you?"
"We're here to collect you."
Du Mu had barely finished speaking when he shot forward like a ghost!
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Cold flashes flickered. The vampires barely had time to react before the blade's gleam turned them to ash.
A flicker of surprise crossed Blade's eyes. "That Watermelon Knife is impressive!"
Du Mu was offended. "It's a Nichirin Blade! It just happens to look like a watermelon knife!"
Isn't that still a watermelon knife?
The corner of Blade's mouth twitched almost imperceptibly. Wisely, he chose to stay silent.
The two kept walking, swaggering right into the nightclub.
As soon as they entered, two patrolling vampires came over at the sound.
Whoosh! Whoosh!
Du Mu's blade flashed down in swift, decisive strokes. The two vampires turned to ash without even getting a groan out.
Meanwhile, Blade Warrior showed off his own remarkable skills.
Using his species' natural ability to hide in the darkness, he crept silently toward another vampire. The vampire never even noticed someone behind him before two heavy punches slammed him to the ground, unconscious.
Blade kept his promise and left the head to Du Mu.
They were both clearly seasoned fighters. There was no need for any complicated plan; one look was enough for them to understand each other, and they slipped into stealth mode in perfect sync.
The two crept deeper into the nightclub, and Du Mu's mission progress shot up by more than a dozen.
Well, they'd certainly been successful at sneaking around!
When they finally stepped into the main club, a thick stench of blood hit them.
The ceiling's sprinkler heads were spraying wildly, but what poured out wasn't water. It was thick, bright-red blood!
Down on the dance floor, a crowd writhed and bounced to deafening, pounding music, letting the bloody rain soak them from head to toe.
Judging by their blissed-out expressions, there was no doubt they were all vampires.
Du Mu looked disgusted. "Are vampires always this gross?"
Blood might be food to vampires, but normal humans didn't pour cola all over themselves. How filthy!
Though, of course, there were exceptions—like those rowdy young guys.
Soon, one particularly rowdy vampire spotted the two uninvited guests. His face went pale with shock.
"It's Blade Warrior! The Daywalker!"
The vampires turned ashen in an instant, staring at Blade as if they'd seen their natural enemy!
Blade's notorious name had long since spread far and wide through the vampire community.
Even newly turned vampires had heard about him from their elders. He was practically a walking urban legend in vampire circles.
Blade clearly enjoyed the effect.
He grinned, revealing a set of teeth that gleamed remarkably white even in the dim light.
"I heard you were throwing a party. Why didn't anyone invite me?"
"Go to hell, Daywalker!"
One brave vampire could no longer hold back his fear. He roared and lunged at Blade!
Whoosh!
Blade drew a long silver sword in an instant. Its blade flashed, and the charging vampire's arms were severed.
Then the sword swept back, cutting off both legs at the knees!
But Blade didn't finish him off. He simply watched as the vampire fell to the floor, writhing and screaming.
He looked like a total sadist!
The other vampires immediately lost their nerve at the sight.
They'd already been terrified of Blade, and now they were even more frightened. In their panic, they surged toward the exit!
Only to find Du Mu blocking the door.
"Get out of the way, human!" snarled the vampire at the front, his face twisted with rage.
Whoosh!
A flash of cold steel was his answer!
The vampire was cleaved in two, then vanished into ash!
Du Mu shut the door, Watermelon Knife in hand, and smiled at the terrified vampires.
"Sorry, this way's closed."
"He's the Vampire Slayer! The lunatic who's slaughtered hundreds of vampires over the past few days!"
A well-informed vampire shrieked, recognizing the latest celebrity in vampire circles.
A hungry wolf ahead, a ferocious tiger behind!
Fear swept over every vampire. They were surrounded by just two people!
"Don't be scared! There are only two of them. We've got the advantage!"
"Kill them!"
Under the pressure of their desperate situation, some vampires instead became feral, lunging at the two like crazed beasts!
Faced with the vampires closing in around him, Blade snorted disdainfully, twirled his silver sword, and charged straight into the crowd!
As it happened, Blade was a half-human, half-vampire hybrid.
He had a vampire's superhuman physique and healing abilities, but none of their weaknesses. Even ultraviolet light, which was deadly to vampires, had no effect on him.
If Blade wanted, he could even sunbathe in broad daylight.
That setup was practically on par with the overpowered hybrid characters in some shonen manga!
On top of that, years of brutal training had honed Blade's combat skills to perfection. These low-level vampires were no match for him.
In no time, more than a dozen vampires lay on the floor, their hands and feet gone.
During a lull in the fighting, Blade glanced toward Du Mu and saw that he was on a rampage. The Watermelon Knife in his hand was moving so fast it was nearly a blur. Every swing sent a vampire screaming as they turned to ash!
As a master of combat, Blade could tell at a glance that Du Mu wasn't using any fighting techniques.
He was simply crushing them with raw stats!
Just then, the door to a private room at the back of the nightclub was slammed open. More than a dozen figures in black leather jackets rushed out.
At their head was a rugged-looking man. He immediately spotted the two men slaughtering his underlings.
The moment he recognized Blade's familiar row of teeth, his shock turned to fury.
"Blade! You half-human, half-vampire bastard! You again!"
Blade kicked away a vampire lunging at him. "Quinn, I'm here to play with you again. Happy?"
"Fuck you!"
Quinn raised his middle finger and roared, "Kill them!!"
At his command, the vampires beside him pulled a variety of guns from their clothes and aimed them at the two men.
For modern vampires—especially in this land of the free—carrying guns was perfectly reasonable.
Rat-a-tat-tat-tat!
A storm of bullets tore from the guns. The two men each dove behind cover.
Blade immediately pulled out a formidable-looking shotgun and pulled the trigger at the charging vampires.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The special silver buckshot blasted out, instantly blowing away the lower halves of several vampires!
But after just a few shots, Blade suddenly stopped.
Du Mu asked, puzzled, "Why'd you stop?"
"Bullets cost too much."
There was a note of genuine pain in Blade's voice.
Du Mu: "..."
