Background / History

Minato serves as captain of the S-rank mission to Rōran, leading Uchiha Aoba, Kakashi Hatake, Shibi Aburame, and Chōza Akimichi. The team is assigned to investigate the Dragon Vein’s instability and seal it if necessary after Sunagakure’s defeat transfers Rōran’s request to Konoha. 8 9

At Rōran, he recognizes the danger posed by Mukade’s chakra-pipe network, rescues the time-displaced Naruto Uzumaki because Naruto wears a Konoha forehead protector, and accepts Naruto’s account of having traveled from the future. He places a Flying Thunder God mark on Naruto for emergencies. 9 10

After Mukade’s defeat, Minato receives Queen Sara’s permission to permanently seal the Dragon Vein, preventing its future exploitation. He subsequently seals the group’s memories of Naruto and the future in order to limit alterations to the timeline. 16 17
