Background / History
Medical apprenticeship and rescue
Xiao Yi Xian had wandered from place to place for years before seeking medical instruction from Doctor Yun in Green Mountain Town. When Mu Li tried to force her into the Wolf Head Mercenary Group, she refused despite knowing that her limited strength left her vulnerable. Ye Yan intervened and killed Mu Li and his guards 68 69.
Although frightened by Ye Yan's decisive violence, she warned him about the mercenary group's stronger leaders and offered to clean up the scene so he could escape. She subsequently studied pharmacology under Doctor Yun, while Ye Yan dealt with the remaining threats in town 69 72.
Discovering and controlling her constitution
Ye Yan gave her the Seven-Colored Poison Scripture, whose description of the Woe Poison Body matched the seven-colored line on her lower abdomen. Doctor Yun suggested avoiding poison entirely so that the constitution would remain dormant. Xiao Yi Xian instead wanted enough strength to keep pace with Ye Yan, though she was unwilling to have him endanger himself for her sake 72 80.
She followed Ye Yan's instruction not to ingest poison during his absence, even as she prepared her own poisonous concoctions. After his return, she awakened the constitution under his supervision. Its uncontrolled effects killed nearby vegetation, forcing him to contain the spread with a fire shield 195 197 198.
Once she reached Dou King, Ye Yan performed the Poison Pill Method using three Heavenly Flames, a Heaven Poison Scorpion Dragon Beast Magic Core, and Bodhi Body-Transforming Saliva. She endured the backlash and compressed her toxins into a Poison Core, bringing the constitution under control 201 202 203 204.
Nether Poison Fire and inheritance
To help locate a compatible Heavenly Flame without burdening Ye Yan unnecessarily, Xiao Yi Xian researched maps of the Northwest Region and identified the Chu Yun Empire as a likely destination. They traveled there together, collecting poisonous herbs and investigating the Ten Thousand Scorpion Mountain Range 257 265 266.
Her sensitivity to poison helped them discover a spatial secret realm beneath the mountain. Inside, she cultivated in a toxic marsh and attracted the Nether Poison Fire, which had been left behind by a Battle Saint who also possessed the Woe Poison Body 271 272 278.
After refining the flame, she unlocked the predecessor's inheritance: the mid-tier Heaven-class attack technique Woe Ten Thousand Poisons Tribulation. Ye Yan translated its ancient writing and promised to teach her both the technique and alchemy. He also collected the realm's toxins into pills for her future cultivation 279 280 282.
Appearance
Xiao Yi Xian initially has raven-black hair and a gentle bearing. Prolonged poison cultivation changes her coloring, and the Poison Pill Method leaves her hair completely silver-white 69 201 203.
- Skin: Initially fair and rosy; becomes sickly pale as her poison consumption increases 198 201.
- Eyes: Deep purple under ordinary conditions; turn largely hollow gray when the Woe Poison Body fully erupts 202.
- Brow mark: A faint purple marking appears during the control procedure 203.
- Constitution mark: A concealed seven-colored line on her lower abdomen identifies the Woe Poison Body and extends during awakening 72 198.
- Clothing: Wears plain white clothing and later a pale white dress with a green sash around her exceptionally slender waist 87 265.
Personality
Xiao Yi Xian's kindness persists despite her precarious upbringing. She offers to protect Ye Yan from the consequences of rescuing her, worries about the danger he might face while researching her condition, and readily agrees to care for Qing Lin after learning about the younger girl's hardships 69 80 110.
Her desire for strength is closely tied to loyalty: she wants to stand beside Ye Yan and eventually protect him. That ambition does not make her careless about cultivation. She obeys his prohibition on consuming poison for years and later suppresses an imminent breakthrough to preserve her foundation 80 195 272.
Initially wary and easily embarrassed, she becomes more playful and willing to express affection as her confidence grows. She remains attentive to her appearance, even selecting awakening poisons that should not alter it. Nevertheless, she accepts physical changes when they are the price of becoming stronger 69 198 201 204 278.
She notices subtle changes in other people's relationships and occasionally shows jealousy. Rather than demanding an exclusive place beside Ye Yan, she considers remaining with him sufficient, even watching the tension between Xiao Xun'er and Cailin with amusement 87 257 258 260.
Abilities & Skills
Woe Poison Body
- Poison-based growth: Converts consumed toxins into cultivation; after gaining a suitable technique, she can also absorb poisonous gas from her surroundings 198 265.
- Poison immunity: Described as immune to poisons and capable of feeding on toxins 198.
- Poison detection: Senses the distribution and source of poisonous gas, though she must approach closely enough to distinguish its origin 266.
- Dangerous eruption: Uncontrolled manifestations spread lethal poison and consume the host's vitality 198 202.
- Constitutional resonance: Resonates with the secret realm's spatial barrier and the predecessor's inheritance, allowing access that Ye Yan cannot obtain through ordinary probing 271 280.
Poison Core
- Internal control: Condenses the Woe Poison Body's toxins into a core through the Poison Pill Method, resolving its immediate uncontrolled backlash 203 204.
- Cultivation support: Converts incoming poisonous gas into poison Dou Qi and grows alongside her cultivation 277.
- Formation requirements: Ye Yan supplies Heavenly Flames, the beast Magic Core, and Bodhi Body-Transforming Saliva; Xiao Yi Xian must remain conscious enough to circulate Dou Qi and compress the poison 202 203.
Ten Thousand Poison Spirit Summoning Technique
- Grade: Mystic Tier Intermediate Grade; custom-created by Ye Yan for her constitution 141.
- Early effects: Sharpens her perception of poison and provides a stable cultivation foundation 141.
- Initial limitation: The version she first receives is unfinished and cannot independently control an eruption of the Woe Poison Body 118 141.
- Later application: Rapidly refines environmental poisonous gas into strength and provides the circulation route used while absorbing the Nether Poison Fire 265 279.
Nether Poison Fire
- Compatibility: Approaches her voluntarily, lowers its temperature during refinement, and settles into its Spirit Receptacle with little resistance 272 278 279.
- Poisonous flames: Manifests as pale green fire; an ordinary plant exposed to it withers primarily from poison rather than burning 279.
- Mutual growth: Stronger cultivation enhances her constitution and internal poison, which in turn strengthens the flame's toxicity 279.
- Wood Qi enhancement: Can absorb Wood Qi, offering another means of strengthening it 277 278.
- Refinement risk: Despite its compatibility, absorption still produces alternating heat and cold and requires protective pills 278.
Woe Ten Thousand Poisons Tribulation
- Grade: Mid-tier Heaven-class large-scale attack technique inherited from a Woe Poison Body Battle Saint 280.
- Mechanism: Uses the combined attributes of fire and poison to trigger a lightning tribulation 280.
- Learning status: Obtains the technique and asks Ye Yan to teach it; no completed use is documented in the provided chapters 280.
Medicine and Poison Combat
- Medical knowledge: Learns pharmacology and poison identification and preparation from Doctor Yun, eventually mastering nearly everything her teacher can impart 72 228.
- Poison preparation: Personally concocts the poisons used to awaken her constitution 197.
- Combat control: Uses poisonous vapor, a large gray-purple Dou Qi hand, and wing-assisted evasion against Scorpion Mountain 270.
- Delayed poisoning: Leaves poison concealed inside an opponent and later triggers its eruption 271.
- Toxicology insight: Explains to Ye Yan that accumulated poisons may become entangled deep within the body while antidotes neutralize only surface toxins 298.
