"Lawrence, this is the first time we've met, isn't it? Why would anyone greet someone with a fist the first time they meet?"
Merlin followed behind Lawrence, looking deeply aggrieved.
He had originally wanted to show off a little in front of Mash and leave the impression of being a gentle older brother before humanity's last Master.
Yet Fou and Lawrence had gone and ruined his plans.
"For other people, perhaps that would be the case." Lawrence walked elegantly ahead of Merlin, a barely perceptible smile on her face. "But when it comes to Merlin, there's no need for that."
"Someone once told me that it was fine to use somewhat forceful means when greeting Merlin, you know?" She turned her head and glanced at Merlin.
".That damned guy." Merlin said viciously, though he clearly lacked conviction.
The "that guy" they were referring to was naturally Anno. As Merlin's only close friend, he understood that bastard's personality far too well.
"You've always been observing Chaldea, and your relationship with Anno is very close. There's no way you could claim not to know me."
Lawrence turned her head back and spoke as she walked, her high heels clicking crisply against the stone pavement.
"And as for me, my relationship with Anno is close enough that we can practically be regarded as the same person. Naturally, I'm no stranger to you either."
"We've known each other for a long time, Merlin. We simply never met face-to-face."
Her tone was utterly matter-of-fact.
Merlin pursed his lips.
Lawrence was right. He truly had no way to refute her.
They had known each other for a long time—strangers who were quite familiar with one another.
"Let's hurry up and discuss the serious matters. I don't want to stay with a woman in disguise like you."
