"Damn it, you idiots, what are you doing? Didn't you hear the legion commander's order? Hurry the hell up and open the gates!" The gate squad captain's eyelid twitched, and he shouted the reprimand before Warwick could lose his temper.
"One, two..." The fourteen warriors exchanged glances, then gritted their teeth and shouted in unison, "Three!"
"Bang!" All the strength of the seven burly men burst forth as they yanked the enormous bronze ring clean off. Their hands had even swollen red from the strain! But the gate still didn't budge!
"Sir, sir, look there! Those spikes! They're what's holding the iron gate to the city wall!" A sharp-eyed soldier suddenly pointed at the top and sides of the gate and shouted.
Warwick narrowed his eyes, shaken to the core. At the same time, a heavy cloud of dread began to gather in his heart!
"These Demon Beasts are going to trap us in here until we die!" The soldier who had spotted the strange sight backed away in terror. "Thud!" He only stopped when his back hit something as solid as a wall. He whirled around—and saw Warwick's shield braced firmly against his back, blocking his retreat!
"Are you scared? Afraid?" Warwick asked softly.
The soldier came to his senses and immediately fell to his knees, begging for mercy.
Warwick slowly tossed aside his iron shield. Then he suddenly flexed both arms, shattering the heavy cavalry armor strapped to his body. Beneath it was the leather armor he usually wore. He brought his hands together in front of his chest. "Everyone, heed my command!"
"Vwoom!" A knight's greatsword slowly appeared in Warwick's hand. Brilliant Diamond Battle Qi surged over it, covering the blade completely. "Hah!" He swung the greatsword down. A violent silver wave of Battle Qi slammed into the iron gate, cleaving the incredibly sturdy gate into several pieces in an instant!
"Charge!" Warwick roared, leading the way!
"Kill!" The heavy cavalry behind him surged forward in a wedge formation!
Led by Warwick, this cavalry force of nearly a full legion was like a sharp dagger, stabbing straight into the Zergling army. As their warhorses charged at full speed, even ordinary weapons without any Battle Qi could easily tear through Zergling armor. Warwick, meanwhile, tore through the enemy ranks as if no one could stop him. At the head of the cavalry, he unleashed one wide-reaching attack after another, waves of Diamond Battle Qi sweeping across the field and cutting down thousands of Zerglings like wheat.
Ten breaths. Under Warwick's command, the cavalry had pierced straight through the Zergling army in just ten breaths! According to the Overlord in the sky assigned to track the battle statistics in this area, at least eleven thousand Zerglings had been killed, and Warwick alone had slain five thousand nine hundred.
"My Emperor, Ye Yi requests permission to fight!"
"My Emperor, Ye Ci requests permission to fight!"
"My Emperor, Ye Di requests permission to fight!"
Warwick's arrogant rampage had deeply angered the heroes beside Ye Luo. All three knelt before him and volunteered to fight.
Ye Luo merely smiled. But the cold glint in his eyes made that smile suffocatingly icy. "What's the hurry? He loves wasting Battle Qi so much, so let him have his fun!"
After piercing through the Zergling army, Warwick took a deep breath and raised his greatsword. "Heroes of the Keren Kingdom, you've seen it for yourselves! These so-called Demon Beasts are nothing special. Against your courage and strength, they're as weak as swine! Now, follow me and fight our way back!"
"Kill!" "Kill!" "Kill!"
Their unstoppable assault had filled the cavalrymen with confidence. They roared, adjusted their formation, and formed a wedge once more, charging through the Zerglings again!
Watching the figure slowly disappear into the Zergling army, Ye Luo moved a finger.
"My Emperor!" Beside Ye Di stood a man so stout he was almost spherical. He regarded Ye Luo respectfully.
"Ye Zhang, it's time to show everyone what you can do. Attack!"
"Yes, my Emperor!"
Ye Zhang was a hero of the Roach Clan, a unit unlocked by the Zerg Hive at level three. His body was stout, but his eyes were tiny. Yet at that moment, those tiny eyes flashed with a piercing gaze!
Among the cavalry, Warwick once again demonstrated the might of a sixth-tier powerhouse. With their first charge as experience, the cavalry's assault went even more smoothly. After only a few breaths, they had plunged into the middle of the Zergling ranks again.
The heavy cavalry's repeated charges had eased the pressure on the soldiers atop the city wall. Of the one hundred thousand Zerglings, more than half had already been lost. The dark, surging swarm had thinned by half, and at last, the soldiers holding the line could see hope!
"Spiral Slash!!" Warwick swung his greatsword wildly, creating a whirlwind before him. Every blade of wind inside it was as sharp as a sword, easily slicing Zerglings in half. Blood filled the air, and in the blink of an eye, the whirlwind had turned into a cloud of blood mist.
"Rumble..." The Zerglings in front of Warwick seemed to know they couldn't stop him. They turned and fled from his path, a sight that heartened him greatly. He immediately shouted, "See? These weak Demon Beasts are starting to panic! They're fleeing! Soldiers, warriors, the dawn of victory is upon us! Follow me and kill!"
"Rumble!" Before Warwick had even finished speaking, a mass of black iron balls suddenly surged up from the empty ground where the Zerglings had retreated. The iron balls blocked the cavalry's path like a black iron wall!
Warwick was shocked. The heavy cavalry's strength lay in the speed of their warhorses as they charged, which they transferred to their weapons. Everyone knew that a bird striking a passenger plane in flight could bring it crashing down. In the same way, weapons moving at high speed could easily pierce shields that even the warriors' Battle Qi could not break!
But once the cavalry's mobility was restricted, their power would be greatly reduced!
"Everyone, watch out! Charge through!" Warwick knew that Demon Beasts could burrow underground, but he couldn't understand how they had made these man-high iron balls move freely in and out of the ground, too. The cavalry was already surging forward and couldn't turn around. They had no choice but to break through head-on!
"Roar!" Suddenly, as the cavalry drew near, the iron balls stirred and transformed into a new kind of Demon Beast, with legs and feet. Their bodies were bulky, as if clad in armor that covered them from head to toe. Their heads stuck out from the armor, their eyes tiny but gleaming with menace. Each beast stood on six legs like an ant, and two sharp blades like spider legs extended from the black armor on their backs.
As the cavalry charged toward them, the Demon Beasts tucked their heads into their iron shells like turtles. They drew their six legs close against the armor, turning themselves back into what looked like iron balls!
