Background / History

Yan Xia Country is one of the world’s five great nations. Its large territory contains numerous Demon Empires and major demon tribes, while its limited mage population has historically restricted its participation in international decision-making. Despite this, other nations fear its retaliation when it demonstrates its military strength. 155

The country’s leadership views demon threats and resource competition as existential concerns: Grand Speaker Shao Zheng states that Yan Xia cannot afford losses because of its territory, demon population, and human population. World School Tournament placement is therefore strategically important, as higher rankings grant magical resources and support the development of more mages. 169

Lin Yu becomes a nationally prominent figure after resolving crises in Hang City and the Ancient Capital, receiving recognition as an honorary councilor of the Ancient Capital and a hero of Yan Xia. 104 120 By the later stages of the story, he is acknowledged as Yan Xia’s guardian and the strongest figure in the country. 340 351

Undead Element Development

After becoming Underworld King of the Mortal Realm, Lin Yu establishes new rules governing Undead Element mages. Undead are to reside in the Underworld and may not disrupt mortal order unless they pledge allegiance to it. 291
