Three monsters resembling rhinos burst out of the pitch-black passage. Ignoring the trio standing in their way, they ran straight outside as if something were chasing them.
"The monsters are running away?"
Raul Nord watched the three creatures race off in confusion, then turned to look back down the passage.
"Ah!"
A horrifying sight appeared before him. A massive rhino monster was being swallowed by a gigantic green caterpillar covered in colorful spots. Its body was nearly ten meters long and three meters in diameter, and more of the same monsters kept crawling out behind it.
"Ah!!!"
A terrible scream echoed across the entire 50th Floor.
Finn and the others, who had been resting, also came out of their tents and looked over.
"Was that Mr. Raul's voice?"
Lefiya looked in the direction of the scream.
"It's near the passage leading to the 51st Floor. Come on, Lefiya!"
"Yes!"
Riveria hurried over, and Finn and the others grabbed their weapons and rushed after her.
Just then, a dark figure flashed past them, speeding toward the same place.
"Was that Qiming?"
"He's so fast!"
"Enough talking. Hurry up. Something must have happened to Raul and the others."
With that, Finn quickened his pace and headed toward them.
When Lu Qiming reached the 51st Floor Entrance, a giant Green Caterpillar Monster had its maw wide open, spraying purple slime toward the three people in front of it.
Raul shoved the other two out of the way, but in pushing his companions clear, he left himself no time to dodge the monster's attack.
"It's over!"
Raul raised both hands to shield his head, bracing himself for the monster's attack.
"Arc Flash!"
A low shout rang out. The next second, Lu Qiming's speeding figure charged straight into the monster horde.
"Raul, are you okay?"
Just then, Tiona rushed over and pulled him away from the edge of the battlefield.
"What are those things?"
Behind them, Tione pulled the other two to safety and stared at the monsters in shock. Ten meters tall, with emerald-green bodies—they looked just like Furry Green Worms blown up countless times over.
Suddenly, one of the monsters reared upright, revealing a huge pink mouth. Thick purple liquid shot toward them.
"Watch out!"
Tione shouted and immediately pulled the two people beside her out of the monsters' attack range.
"Damn it!"
Tiona leaped into the air, shouting as she aimed the Great Dual Blades in her hands at the monster and plunged them down.
"Tiona, don't attack!"
Lu Qiming had just slashed one of the monsters apart with a single sword strike. He shouted to her, but he was a second too late.
"Huh?"
Tiona froze, crouched on top of the monster's head. She glanced at Lu Qiming, then looked down at the monster she had struck. Thick purple liquid gushed continuously from its wound.
"Eek!"
Tiona jumped from the monster's head to Tione's side and looked back at it.
The monster roared and reared upright, spraying purple liquid in every direction. The moment it touched the ground, trees, or grass, they melted away.
"Tch!"
Bete had just arrived. He clicked his tongue at the sight and began dodging the falling liquid.
Sky-Flash Step.
Up above the monster horde, Lu Qiming stepped on the air. His body shot toward the monster spraying purple liquid like an arrow.
Death-Strike Slash.
A flash of sword light—and the monster vanished into black ash.
"Phew~"
Lu Qiming landed beside Tiona and let out a deep breath.
"Tiona, you nearly destroyed the camp."
He stared at the grinning Tiona, at a loss for words. In the original story, one of the main reasons the Loki Familia's Expedition Team failed this time was that during this attack, purple liquid sprayed by the monsters splashed into the nearby temporary camp, destroying most of the tents and supplies.
Without their supplies, the Loki Familia's Expedition Team had no choice but to turn back.
