Boys Are Like This

Li Yu's words left Kato Megumi feeling somewhat helpless. "That's right, Li Yu-kun, which is why I'm so troubled."

As she said this, Kato Megumi looked at Li Yu with surprise. "It's just that I didn't expect Li Yu-kun to notice me. No one else in the class did."

It was truly incredible; she had been keeping an eye on everyone in the class, yet when she introduced herself, her classmates hadn't even looked her way.

In fact, everyone acted as if she didn't exist. Aside from the homeroom teacher, only Li Yu had looked at her—and although he had looked as if he'd seen a ghost, he had clearly noticed her.

"My situation is a bit special, which is why I reacted the way I did. Please take care of me, Kato-san!" Li Yu smiled and formally greeted Kato Megumi.

Hearing Li Yu's words, Kato Megumi's expression remained calm, though the corners of her mouth lifted slightly. "Please take care of me as well."

She felt a little happy. In this new class, there was actually a classmate who could notice her. One had to know that at school, aside from teachers, very few students ever noticed her.

At the very least, she might not have to be so lonely from now on! Li Yu could be considered the first classmate to take the initiative to talk to her!

While Li Yu and Kato Megumi were talking, Yukino Yukinoshita, who was sitting in front, heard them. She turned her head, having not noticed Kato Megumi before.

Hearing Li Yu, Yukino Yukinoshita snapped out of her thoughts and nodded back at him. "Hello!"

With that, she turned her head away and said nothing more, which Li Yu didn't mind.

If nothing went wrong, her personality was likely just like it was in the anime; trying to chat with her would probably be quite difficult.

Therefore, Li Yu wouldn't make a fool of himself by acting like a sycophant and pestering her.

The corner they occupied fell silent once more. Li Yu took out his phone to scroll through videos, continuing to learn what he could from the internet.

The rest of the class was busy chatting, getting to know their new classmates.

Some boys took the initiative to approach Yukino Yukinoshita, but she ended every conversation within a few words.

This made it clear to everyone that the young girl before them was not easy to get along with.

Time passed bit by bit, and noon arrived quickly. When the lunch break bell rang, Li Yu stood up, ready to head to the cafeteria for a meal.

As Li Yu rose, he glanced at Kato Megumi and couldn't help but say, "Kato-san, since you're new to this school, do you need me to show you to the cafeteria?"

Kato Megumi was stunned by Li Yu's words. She hadn't expected him to ask; she had planned to find it slowly on her own, but it seemed that wouldn't be necessary now.

"Okay, then I'll trouble you, Li Yu-kun." Kato Megumi didn't refuse. After all, she was truly unfamiliar with this school, and having Li Yu lead the way would make things easier.

"Let's go then. What about you, Yukinoshita? Want to come along? I noticed you seemed to spot Kato as well. You're both from Sakura District, so you can chat more." Li Yu added casually.

When Kato Megumi heard Li Yu say this, she looked at Yukino with surprise. The other girl had noticed her too? She hadn't really paid attention to that.

Yukino Yukinoshita felt a stir in her heart at these words. She glanced at Kato Megumi and nodded. Since they were the only two people from Sakura District in the class, they should get to know each other.

"Then I'll join you." Yukino Yukinoshita quickly tidied up her desk, then stood up and left the classroom with Li Yu and Kato Megumi.

The cafeteria wasn't actually far from their classroom, and the building they were in was quite unique.

For instance, while their classroom was on the second floor, the first floor was a massive, empty combat arena.

This was a training ground for students, while the third floor was a place for meditation. It could be said that the entire building was for their use.

Because they were the only class in this building, if nothing went wrong, Li Yu and the others would have all their classes here from now on.

Descending from the upper floor, Li Yu led the two toward the cafeteria. Li Yu walked in front, with Yukino Yukinoshita and Kato Megumi following behind.

The two girls huddled together, whispering to each other, while Li Yu, walking in front, was purely a guide.

He didn't shamelessly try to join their conversation; after all, the three of them weren't that familiar with each other yet.

Once he brought them to the cafeteria, Li Yu's task was complete, and he didn't need to involve himself further.

As for how to pay for food and such, they should have known how to handle that after having been students for so long.

Li Yu parted ways with them upon reaching the cafeteria, heading off alone to grab a tray and order his meal.

However, not long after Li Yu had ordered his food and found a seat, Kato Megumi and Yukino Yukinoshita arrived with their own meals.

The two sat down directly across from Li Yu. Kato Megumi even handed him a bottle of water. "Li Yu-kun, please have some water."

Hearing Kato Megumi, Li Yu was slightly taken aback. He looked up at her, and seeing the expectation in her eyes, he didn't refuse.

Accepting the drink, Li Yu said thank you and buried his head back into his meal.

The two girls didn't mind; they began eating their own food in silence as well. None of the three spoke, eating quietly.

Boys eat much faster than girls. Before the two of them had eaten much, Li Yu had already finished his meal.

After finishing, Li Yu took the drink Kato Megumi had given him, gulped down a few mouthfuls, and stood up. "Eat slowly, I'm heading out."

With that, Li Yu picked up his tray and left, ignoring the two stunned girls.

Watching Li Yu leave, Kato Megumi couldn't help but remark, "Do boys always eat that fast?"

They hadn't even started properly, yet Li Yu was already done. The speed was just too fast.

"It's normal. Besides, I get the feeling he felt a bit uncomfortable sitting with us, probably because we just met." Yukino Yukinoshita could understand.

It was common knowledge that boys ate quickly; one could often see people complaining about it online.

Moreover, she had noticed that Li Yu seemed a bit awkward sitting with them, a point she could certainly understand.
