"What are you doing?!" Just as Pakura was growing angry, she suddenly spun around and hurled a kunai. It cut through the air and vanished.
"Heh heh heh. Lady Pakura, there's no need for that. I'm here to help you!"
"Who are you?! An Anbu from Konoha?" The newcomer was dressed just like a Konoha Anbu.
"Root of Konoha. Asuka!"
"Root?!"
Given her position, Pakura knew Root existed within Konoha. She also knew about their crazy way of doing things. Root might technically belong to Konoha, but when it came to stabbing Konoha in the back, they didn't hold back at all.
"What does a Root shinobi want with me?!"
"Our goals are the same," the Root shinobi replied. "That brat causing trouble for you is the Uchiha Clan's greatest prodigy, Uchiha Suifeng. He's your enemy, and he's our enemy too."
Uchiha Suifeng?
Pakura had heard the name, but that was all.
As mentioned before, there were plenty of so-called geniuses in this world. Several emerged every year. The Uchiha Clan was simply too famous, and Suifeng had broken the age record for becoming a Chunin. That was why shinobi outside Konoha had heard of him. If he had been anyone else, a powerful shinobi like Pakura would never have heard his name.
"He's a genius from your village. How did he become an enemy of Root?!"
"The reasons involve Konoha's secrets. I came here only to tell you about him. Whether you believe me is none of my concern."
"Fine. True or not, there's no harm in listening." Pakura smiled calmly. She found it gratifying to see Root stab its own people in the back, especially when she was a shinobi from another village.
But as the Root shinobi listed Suifeng's abilities, her smile gradually faded.
