Moon Rabbits were a very unusual race, completely different from the other Orc subraces. They were almost an entirely independent race, and had only come into being quite recently. They were a new race elevated during the Ninth Era, the Covenant Era.
Naturally, the one capable of elevating a race was no ordinary being. It was the Phantom Black Rabbit, who had attained the position of Hour of the Radiant Moon. Originally an immortal beast on the path of Nightmare, the Phantom Black Rabbit had seized the position of Hour of the Radiant Moon through special means after the previous Lord of Dreams, the Silver Moon Dragon who held that position, had fallen.
It had succeeded because Saint of Silver Radiance: Melancholy, the greatest rival for the position of Hour of the Radiant Moon, had died. For a short time, no one else could get close to that position.
After successfully claiming the position of Hour of the Radiant Moon, the Phantom Black Rabbit hadn't thrown its weight around like the Dragon of the Corona, sweeping across the world and waging wars on several continents. Instead, it had hidden itself away and established the Heavenly Courtyard, Moon Rabbit Homeland.
Many scholars suspected that the Phantom Black Rabbit's claim to the position was illegitimate, and that it couldn't fully control the Radiant Moon's position as Hour. That was why it had gone into hiding.
Nowadays, it wasn't the Phantom Black Rabbit that adjusted the moon's course and divided the seasons. Instead, other Fairy Monarchs with the Aspect Power of the Radiant Moon performed those duties on its behalf.
