Background

Six Fan Gates investigations describe Xue Qingqiu as an abandoned infant from a disaster-stricken farming family. Found before she was three months old by a Star Moon Sect elder surnamed Xue, she received both her name and upbringing from the sect. She was raised within the Star Moon Sect from infancy, immersed in its medicinal baths from the time she could walk, and displayed exceptional talent early enough to become an inner disciple and then the former Sect Master’s personal disciple. 26

Thirteen years before the Capital City events, the previous Sect Master died from a cultivation deviation. A resulting split between the sect’s male and female leadership escalated into civil war; the departing men established the Blazing Sun Sect.
