Wu Heng walked to the window and watched the sky outside gradually darken.
David followed him over and lowered his voice. "What are you planning to do about the tablet?"
"The most important thing right now is to get the tablet first," Wu Heng said. "Bobby mentioned Kevin Tran at the Preparatory Academy. Sam and Dean will go find him."
"The Leviathans must have their eyes on that place too."
"That's why we need a cover." Wu Heng turned around. "You'll deal with the government and make sure they don't interfere with the operation. I'll deploy three squads around the Preparatory Academy, create false targets to draw attention, and the real tablet retrieval team will consist of only Sam and Dean."
David nodded. Just as he was about to leave, Wu Heng called him back.
"There's one more thing." Wu Heng's voice was very soft. "Castiel's soul... I picked up a signal."
David froze. "He's still alive?"
"Alive, but not in reality." Wu Heng brought up another screen displaying complex spatial coordinate data. "The signal is coming from an... interstitial dimension, a buffer zone between Heaven and Hell. Someone hid him there. They may be waiting for the right time to bring him back."
"Who did it?"
"I don't know." Wu Heng shook his head slightly. "But the signal is growing stronger. He's about to wake up."
The Preparatory Academy stood on the shore of Lake Michigan, an old Victorian-style building with red brick walls covered in ivy and stained-glass windows glowing warmly beneath the setting sun.
Officially, it was a private preparatory school. In reality, it had been one of the repositories of occult knowledge for centuries.
Dean parked two blocks away and approached on foot with Sam.
The street was quiet, but that only made it feel wrong.
