Lucy held out her hand.
The back of her hand was covered in wounds. Some had already scabbed over, while others were still bleeding. Layla squeezed out some ointment and applied it to her wounds. It felt cool and didn't hurt.
"Are all the people on your side like you?" Lucy asked.
Without looking up, Layla said, "Like what?"
"They save people."
Layla thought for a moment.
"Most do. Some don't. But the chairman said that anyone who can be saved must be saved."
Lucy looked at her. "Who's the chairman?"
"Lohr. You saw him earlier."
Lucy recalled the man in black. He was tall and thin, expressionless, and spoke in short sentences.
"He's really amazing," Lucy said.
Layla smiled. "Yes. You just stated a universally acknowledged fact."
Elsewhere, Michelle stood atop a high slope, watching the energy-collar controllers being destroyed in the distance.
The demon hunters used Flame-Ice Hybrid Bombs to blast those gray buildings flat, one after another.
Every time one was destroyed, thousands of collars cracked open, and thousands of people walked out of their cages. Michelle counted twelve that had already been destroyed. Three remained.
A moderate angel flew down from the sky and landed beside her.
His wings had not fully grown in yet, so he flew a little crookedly, but he could fly now.
"Lady Michelle, the concentration camp to the east has been cleared. We rescued roughly four thousand people. Most of them can't stand and need stretchers."
Michelle nodded. "Send the medical team over."
The angel flew away.
Michelle stood there, watching the rescued people.
Some were carried onto stretchers. Some supported each other as they walked. Some walked alone.
There was an old woman who looked seventy or eighty, though she was actually only in her forties. She walked slowly by
