Thomas stood at the doorway, spinning Hunter Blade in his hand. "Twenty isn't even enough to fill the gaps between our teeth. We can finally free up some hands."
Karim crouched in the corner, twelve scorpion tails swaying behind him.
"Indeed. This is much easier than before. We used to kill hundreds, even thousands a day. Those things were weak, but the moment we let them be, they immediately grew stronger. It was exhausting. Now we only kill a few dozen a day—it's like taking a walk."
Thomas looked at him.
"You call that taking a walk?"
Karim thought for a moment. "Taking a walk while killing a few things."
Thomas said nothing.
Martin walked in from outside. "President, the number of 'shells' in the human world is decreasing. It dropped by fifteen percent last week. At this rate, all shells will regain consciousness within three months."
Wu Heng nodded. "Have Elena continue monitoring them. Report immediately if anything unusual happens."
Martin wrote it down in his notebook.
"Also, the extraordinary isolation mechanism has been perfected. All thirty monitoring points have had their equipment upgraded. Hans's new runes can filter out ninety-nine percent of extraordinary energy fluctuations."
Wu Heng rose and walked to the window.
In the distance, the surrendered demons were repairing roads. The sound of hammers striking stone drifted over from the construction site, steady and rhythmic.
He raised his hand and looked at the lines on his palm.
The Creation Fragment had already merged into the Trait Tree. Its trunk had thickened another ring, and its branches and leaves had grown denser.
Those roots had plunged into the void, and he could sense them touching other parallel worlds.
Some were far away. Some were close.
In some worlds, demons ruled, and angels and humans had become slaves.
