It looked ready to pounce and devour someone.
As the Quran scroll tube shattered, split into two halves, and rolled across the floor with a clatter, the figure seemed startled and quickly retreated two steps.
Before Anita could even breathe a sigh of relief, the window behind her shattered with a crack.

Already extremely tense and frozen stiff, she was frightened into screaming again by the sudden sound.
She crouched down and curled up on the floor.
The instant she lowered herself, she saw two feet on the floor before her—three times the size of a normal person's, rotten, with thick, curled nails.
Their four toes resembled chicken claws, absolutely not a shape human feet should have.
A terrifying, bone-chilling aura rushed toward her.
Every pore on her body trembled, and she did not dare move an inch.

Anita blankly raised her head and saw only a savage maw lunging straight at her, intent on biting off her head.

Anita collapsed onto the floor, clutching her head and screaming miserably. It was the only thing she could do.

Yet the instant the monster's sharp teeth touched Anita's skin, it was as though it had been electrocuted. Black vapor rose from the point of contact.

Along with that foul stench, enough to make someone choke and suffocate, the tall, hunched shadow wraith collapsed into
