Ambush

In the past, Hatake Kakashi had always been the one shielding him from the storm. This was his first time going out alone, and he had already run into such a huge problem. His luck was truly a little too bad.

Outside, the Land of Fire's daimyo and his attendants had begun making preparations to settle in. Some Kirigakure ninja were helping as well, though most were scouting the perimeter.

Sasuke Uchiha still sat calmly inside the carriage, listening as the sound of wheels outside came to a halt and voices began to rise in a clamor. He continued dutifully awaiting Mei Terumi's orders.

Suddenly, a sense of danger struck Sasuke Uchiha. Before he could react, a violent explosion thundered over, sending dust flying everywhere.

Fortunately, the specially made carriage withstood the not-too-powerful shockwave. The servants and some of the ninja who had been working, however, were not so lucky. They were all thrown to the ground, and a few appeared to have suffered serious injuries.

"Enemy attack..."

The rising waves of shouts drowned out the fading sound of the explosion. The sounds of blades leaving their sheaths and hurried footsteps drew closer. Some guards, unaware that the one seated within the luxurious carriage was not the Land of Fire's daimyo but Sasuke Uchiha, gathered around to protect it.

"So there really are enemies!"

He did not know whether he should feel fortunate or lament his bad luck. But since they were enemies, they were naturally meant to be defeated.

Before Mei Terumi gave the order, Sasuke Uchiha could only suppress his urge to rush out and slaughter them to his heart's content.

If this side were exposed, the danger facing the real daimyo would rise sharply.
