After being rescued from a plantation in Mo Country by the Night Watcher, Gern and his parents became the Night Watcher's most devoted believers.

They began spreading faith in the Night Watcher across the lands of the New Continent.

Those who had been rescued back then, along with others who had found salvation at the Night Watcher's hands, became seeds of faith in the Night Watcher across the New Continent, secretly proclaiming his greatness.

Although Mo Country had become much safer and its living conditions somewhat more comfortable after a major purge, the deep-rooted problems that had accumulated over the years—especially the darkness of human nature brought about by its social conditions—still remained.

Even though the former drug lords and all manner of underground forces had been jointly purged by the Night Watcher and the Collector, the moment that suppressive force relaxed, new violence immediately emerged to fill the power vacuum.

For that reason, Gern's parents decided to take him out of Mo Country and head for the New Continent United States, seeking a relatively peaceful and prosperous environment where Gern could grow up well.
