Li Chen was an orphan in Heaven Dou City before his martial soul awakening at age six. Aware that Spirit Pagoda support was his only practical route to cultivation resources, he accepted its recruitment offer after awakening twin martial souls and innate full soul power 1.

He chose the Fate Underworld Qilin from the rare Indomitable Soul Spirits rather than accept an incompatible dragon-type soul spirit. The Qilin agreed to contract with him, granting him a 999-year first soul ring 3 4.

After meeting Gu Yue in the Heaven Dou Spirit Pagoda, Li Chen entered the Spirit Ascension Platform with her.
