History
The Three Realms emerged from the destruction of the ancient Pangu Chaosworld and Wujian Chaosworld. During their war, the Chaos Alien known as the Lord of All Things intervened with an army of Dao Ancestor-level puppets, threatening both sides. Lady Nuwa then achieved the Pangu level and killed him, ending the conflict 266.
When the two Chaosworlds shattered, their largest fragment became the Primordial Ruins. The remaining fragments formed the Heavenly Realm, Netherworld, three thousand major worlds, and countless minor worlds—the original Three Realms 266.
Lady Nuwa established the Six Paths of Reincarnation and Fengdu Underworld to govern the souls of all beings, then founded the Heavenly Court and appointed the Heavenly Emperor as common sovereign. After she departed into boundless chaos, the returning powers of Wujian Chaosworld made peace with Pangu World’s survivors, and the two peoples coexisted for endless ages 266.
That peace ended when the Wujian Gate secretly attacked the Netherworld, causing the Six Paths of Reincarnation to collapse. It then fomented warfare throughout the Human Realm, leading to the conflict between the Nuwa and Wujian factions 266.
After the great calamity, the Three Pure Ones restored the Heavenly Court, rebuilt the Yincao Underworld, and reestablished the Six Paths of Reincarnation. Three hundred years later, the Three Realms had returned to normal, with Qi Refiner cultivation methods strengthened from the Purple Mansion stage onward 371.
Later cosmological era
After nearly fifty chaos cycles of destruction and rebirth, the term Three Realms came to denote a vast void region containing 8,200 chaos worlds. A main world remains at the site of the original Three Realms and preserves its foundational arrangement 386.
Governance
- Heavenly Court — Established by Lady Nuwa to serve as the common authority of the Three Realms 266.
- Jade Emperor — Nominal ruler of the Three Realms; imperial ceremony and majesty are considered necessary to maintain factional cohesion 265.
- Northern Pole Purple Tenuity Jade Void Emperor of Central Heaven — A rank below the Jade Emperor, responsible for assisting in the governance of the Three Realms 265.
- Shared balance of power — The Dao Sect, Buddhist Sect, and human race place disciples and followers in Heavenly Court offices, allowing major decisions to be resolved through their collective authority 253.
Major Realms and Regions

Major Factions
- Nuwa Faction — Includes the Dao Sect, Buddhist Sect, and human race; it opposed the Wujian Gate during the great calamity 265 266.
- Wujian Faction — Descended from alien lifeforms originating in Wujian Chaosworld. After ages of coexistence, it initiated conflict by attacking the Netherworld and destabilizing the Human Realm 265 266.
- Heavenly Court — The central celestial administration, whose prestige had declined before Zhou Hao’s campaigns restored its authority 270.
- Mysterious Heaven Sect — A sect with roots in the Heavenly Realm that later expanded its presence in the Great Xia World through the Jade Dragon Sect’s five branches 251.
Reincarnation
The Six Paths of Reincarnation originally governed the passage of all deceased souls through the Underworld 10. Its collapse during the Wujian Gate’s assault on the Netherworld destabilized the Three Realms and became a major cause of the later war 266.
Following the great calamity, the Three Pure Ones rebuilt the Yincao Underworld and restored the Six Paths, returning the cycle of reincarnation to operation 371.
