When Zhang Wutian woke up again, he finally saw the rescue method Little Wukong had been talking about.
She was clinging to Zhang Wutian and frantically gnawing at his mouth. Honestly, being grabbed and gnawed on by a monkey girl wasn't the least bit romantic. And of course, this highly unorthodox form of artificial respiration couldn't possibly have any healing effect.
Zhang Wutian was beginning to wonder what Master Roshi's "proud disciple," the old Mr. Son Gohan, had in mind when he taught his granddaughter this. Considering Master Roshi's low standards and his well-known little hobby... Zhang Wutian's gaze turned sinister.
"You're finally awake, Zhang Wutian. Weren't you supposed to stay conscious? Now I have to give you first aid again," Little Wukong said unhappily.
"Thanks for going to all that trouble, but don't do this kind of first aid to anyone else."
"Why not?" Son Wukong tilted her head and gazed at Zhang Wutian with her big, innocent eyes.
"Didn't your grandpa tell you? This is something you can only do with your husband. Didn't he tell you that you can only have one husband?"
"I think he did... or maybe he didn't..." Little Wukong tilted her head and thought hard.
"I'm your husband now, so you can't do this to anyone else."
Zhang Wutian certainly hadn't developed any strange ideas about Little Wukong. At least, at that moment, he hadn't even remotely considered marrying this monkey girl. But if she ever suddenly threw herself at some enemy—Frieza after his third transformation, for instance—and clung to him, gnawing away in an attempt to save him, the image would be far too beautiful. Just imagining it was enough to make Zhang Wutian shudder.
"Anyway, you have to listen to me about this. Understand?"
"I don't really understand, but since you're my husband, I'll listen to you." She still didn't seem to have figured out what "husband" meant, but it was a word her grandfather had mentioned before. She had a certain respect for it, so she reluctantly followed Zhang Wutian's instructions.
Clutching his chest, Zhang Wutian staggered to his feet. He realized that even after taking such a vicious blow from Little Wukong, his chest hadn't caved in or anything. In fact, he seemed to have gotten stronger.
"Could I really have the kind of body that gets stronger when it's beaten up? This is starting to feel like some old RPG..."
With that thought in mind, Zhang Wutian decided not to hurry home. He even believed he might be able to return to his original world with the Dragon Balls, so he settled in at Son Wukong's house.
"Get up, Zhang Wutian. It's already light out!"
"Mm... five more minutes..."
A spray of blood burst from Zhang Wutian's mouth. Little Wukong headbutted him in the stomach, sending him bouncing right off the ground.
"Are you trying to kill me?! You just want to eat my flesh, don't you, you damn monkey?!"
"I don't want to eat you! This is the only way to wake you up." Little Wukong said it with complete confidence.
The two sat down at the table, and this time it was Zhang Wutian's turn to lecture Little Wukong.
"Don't eat with your hands. Use chopsticks. Didn't your grandpa leave you some?"
"You're so annoying, Zhang Wutian. You're even more nagging than my grandpa."
"Enough complaining. Do as I say! I'm not asking you to act like a lady, but at the very least, have some basic manners!"
After breakfast, the two of them went out hunting.
"That prey is all yours. Good luck—don't lose!"
Pointing at a giant bear over four meters tall, Little Wukong said calmly.
"Are you sure I'm not just going to be a snack for that thing?"
"Don't worry. You survived one of my punches, so I'm sure you can beat it. Besides, you want to get stronger, right? If you beat it, you'll definitely get stronger."
Zhang Wutian took a deep breath and said nothing more. With Little Wukong watching, he walked toward the wary giant bear.
The bear reared up on its hind legs and glared at Zhang Wutian.
"I heard bears don't eat dead people. If I lie down and play dead, will you leave me alone?"
The bear answered with an unforgiving swipe of its paw.
Zhang Wuxing was knocked backward again and again, but having already endured an attack from Little Wukong, he managed to hold his ground instead of being sent flying.
"Come on, hit me again if you've got the guts, you stupid bear!"
Three minutes later, Little Wukong killed the giant bear with a helpless look on her face. Then she rescued Zhang Wutian, who had been swallowed halfway, with only his legs still sticking out of the bear's mouth.
"I thought I was done for," Zhang Wutian said miserably, blood still spurting from a hole in his head.
"You're so weak. You can't hunt by yourself at all. How did you survive before? Did you eat nothing but vegetables?"
Zhang Wutian had no answer to that.
That night, Zhang Wutian ate a bear paw while Little Wukong polished off all the rest of the bear. The two sat side by side beneath the eaves, watching the stars.
"I'm stuffed!" Little Wukong said happily, patting her round belly.
"You ate several times your own body weight. How does a Saiyan's stomach even work? Could that be the secret to the Saiyans' strength?"
"What's a Saiyan?"
"It's what people in the city call mountain folk." Zhang Wutian changed the subject. "Do you know what a city is?"
"Yeah, Grandpa told me about them. He said there are lots of bad people in the city."
"I came from the city. Do you think I'm a bad person?"
Little Wukong shook her head, then added, "But you're really weak. Are all the people in the city as weak as you?"
"More or less." Gazing up at the stars and taking in the beauty of the clear, unpolluted night sky, Zhang Wutian spoke in a distant voice. "Most people in the city are cold and indifferent. They'd never let a stranger stay in their home the way you did. I grew up in the city, so I'm a city person through and through, but I've always felt as if I were living in a cage, without any freedom. Wukong, I envy you. You're strong enough to live freely, without anything holding you back."
"Snore... snore..." A steady snoring sound came from beside him. The monkey girl had fallen asleep.
"Honestly, at least let me finish talking. I hardly ever get this sentimental." With a helpless sigh, Zhang Wutian picked Little Wukong up and carried her to bed.
Looking at the light little girl in his arms, Zhang Wutian muttered to himself, "Husband? Give me a break. We're more like father and daughter. I'm not married yet, but if I had a daughter, she'd probably be just like this."
"Grandpa... I miss you so much..." Little Wukong murmured in her sleep as Zhang Wutian carried her. Her words struck a tender spot in his heart.
"She's still just a kid. She may act carefree most of the time, but she still misses her grandpa in her dreams."
"Sleep well, little monkey." Zhang Wutian gently stroked Little Wukong's hair.
The next moment, crack! Little Wukong clamped her teeth around Zhang Wutian's outstretched hand.
"Grandpa... so tasty..."
"You little rascal, I'm not your grandpa! And even if I were, you still couldn't eat me! Wait, could you have eaten your grandpa?! You man-eating monkey! Stop biting! Let go! Hey, why are you biting even harder? Let go of me!"
The next day, when Son Wukong woke up, she saw Zhang Wutian with a face full of anguish and tooth marks all over his arm.
"Come on, monkey girl. Let's fight three hundred rounds!"
"Sure." Ever since her grandpa died, no one had been around to spar with her, so Son Wukong was thrilled by Zhang Wutian's invitation.
Incidentally, Zhang Wutian didn't even last three rounds in their fight that day. Son Wukong sent him flying with one punch, and he couldn't get back up.
Zhang Wutian: Why do I get sent flying in every chapter? Author, do you have a grudge against me?
