Background / History
Dr. Gero's abandoned Cell project was built from the cells of powerful fighters, including Son Goku, and was originally given one directive: kill Goku. Mo Yuan later confirms that he was created from Goku's cells, though he mutated differently from Cell. 1 47
During the Android crisis, Goku is incapacitated by illness. Krillin and Future Trunks move him and Chi-Chi to Master Roshi's island for protection, fearing that Lazuli and Lapis will target him. 12 When Lapis and Android 16 find Goku's home, Gohan tells them that Goku is unconscious; Lapis declines to attack a sick opponent and leaves. 28
Goku recovers completely after Cell disappears from the main timeline. He immediately brings Gohan to train and recruits Vegeta and Trunks to use the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. 43

Personality
