The Ravenclaw Temple on the Floating City did not look like an enlarged version of the Ravenclaw Temple in Diagon Alley. Huge, elegant arched windows opened in the walls, hung with blue and bronze silk. The ceiling was a dome, beneath which many ravens flew up and down or perched, adding a deep air of mystery to the temple.
Many Ministry of Magic officials, as members of Pureblood families, had never personally visited the temple. Even though some of them had experienced the divine descent themselves when Hogwarts's former headmaster was Driven Away, they lived comfortably and wanted for nothing, making it difficult for them to change old habits and develop faith in something to pray for anything.
But now, as they slowly gazed inside the temple at sights that even the Unspeakables of the Department of Mysteries rarely had the chance to see, they could not help feeling as if they had heard thunder from the heavens. That rolling, surging thunder stirred them—made them proud to be wizards, proud that their own kind had built such a majestic and solemn magical hall.
When the visiting wizards raised their heads, they saw the murals depicting some of Ravenclaw's deeds after becoming a goddess. They would notice the enormous statue of Rowena Ravenclaw in the empty hall, as if connecting the indoor space to heaven and earth, along with reliefs shaped like the five dragons that served as her mount. Some of the ravens raised inside flew back and forth beneath the ceiling.
