When Grawp noticed so many people looking his way, he grew a little shy. Though his social skills had improved a great deal over the past few years of study, seeing this many people still left him at a loss. Holding the cake, he hunched in on himself awkwardly, trying to hide behind his mother.
Fridwulfa narrowed her yellow-flecked eyes and looked toward Allen, who had not even turned his head. She could clearly sense that the atmosphere was wrong, and she knew full well that she had only lived until now because of the Elixir of Life he had bestowed on her. So she hurriedly reached out a liver-spotted hand and grabbed the clothes at the back of Hagrid's neck, tugging hard as she barked a low order to stop him. "Stop it, Hagrid. This is not the time."
Just now, the towering Madame Maxime had been abruptly swept into Hagrid's arms. At first she had resisted, but after surviving the disaster and facing his passionate affection, she had kissed him back. Now, hearing her mother-in-law's shout, she instantly realized that the two of them were in full view of everyone, and remembered the current situation.
So Madame Maxime began to struggle. She reached out and pushed Hagrid's rough cheek away, and with her strength and size both surpassing his, she easily broke free from his embrace. Hagrid stared at his fiancée with an innocent face and bewildered little eyes. Madame Maxime straightened up. Though her cheeks were flushed, she still pretended nothing had happened as she explained the situation to Hagrid and the others.
Hagrid stared blankly at Madame Maxime, the small patch of face visible through his hair utterly lost. "Professor Flitwick?... How's that possible? He's the Charms Class professor!"
