The Instant After Birth

When Penelope and Allen reappeared in the Death Chamber of the Department of Mysteries at the Ministry of Magic, Allen immediately spotted Albert, who was baring his teeth, waving his arms, and loudly trying to comfort their mother. In front of him, Daisy clung tightly to her mother, while Tonks stood beside her with one hand gripping her arm.

Mrs. Morgan le Fay Harris had tears in her eyes and an upturned smile on her lips as she listened intently.

Allen and Penelope's appearance drew the Aurors' attention. After Penelope stopped them from approaching and surrounding them, Mrs. Morgan le Fay Harris let out a sudden cry of wild joy. Then, tears streaming down her face, she shouted and stumbled toward her youngest son on the steps, whom she had thought lost and now had back.

The Aurors lowered their wands. They had evidently recognized Allen despite his longer hair and pale complexion. The perceptive Aurors had also clearly noticed the changes in his bearing and height. That kept them from lowering their guard, but they did not disperse either, remaining where they were on alert to ensure that nothing unexpected happened.

Daisy had been looking down and only then noticed that her mother had disappeared. When she looked up and saw what was happening, she obviously recognized her younger brother at first glance. With a delighted expression, she broke free of Tonks, her best friend and bodyguard, and rushed toward Allen as well.

"Thank Merlin!" Mrs. Morgan le Fay Harris pulled her recovered son into a fierce embrace, then pushed him away to carefully examine how he had changed. Tears immediately poured down her face again, and she covered it with both hands, too heartbroken to speak.

Allen gently patted his mother's back to comfort her. "Mom, I'm fine.
