They returned to Four-Eyes's office, and the rows of enormous curved lattice bookshelves rotated back into place. The group walked out of the bookshelf area and sat down on the sofas.

"Penelope, last term I asked you to investigate Dolores's family background. Before you go to Africa, find Dolores's Muggle mother and Muggle brother and bring them to see me. We'll see then whether she'll talk," Allen said, giving Penelope, beside him, a new task.

"Why go to all that trouble? Leave it to me. I can make her confess right away." A trace of ruthlessness flashed across Penelope's expression.

Allen lightly patted his Magic Robes, then leaned back against the sofa. "Dolores is domineering, overbearing, self-righteous, rigid, and oppressive, with a strong desire for revenge and control. But she seems to have a rather different attitude toward her Muggle brother. It's just that ever since she was fifteen, she's never seen her mother or Muggle brother again. Send people to find her mother and brother and bring them back. I'm doing this to decide how to deal with her. If Dolores still cares about them, I'll let her go. If she doesn't, then get rid of her."
