Allen had expected this level of attention and reaction, but he had not expected that, compared with the decent restraint of Britain's adult wizards, Hogwarts' young wizards would have far fewer scruples. After boarding, they not only trailed behind him just to get a better look at Anka, but even after the train started moving, some young wizards found excuses to pass by his compartment, pretending very cleverly to hide their curiosity as they craned their necks to look at the Phoenix perched on the back of the compartment seat.

Using her status as a female prefect, Hermione kept driving those young wizards back to their own compartments, but it was harder to chase out someone like Ginny when she brought friends along—Lavender Brown had had her boyfriend Ron ask his sister to help bring her over for a close look, and she made a tremendous fuss praising Anka.
