Harris Manor was brilliantly lit at night. Outside, snowflakes drifted and whirled in the cold wind. Unlike the grand feast on the first day of the holiday, on this final day of the break, only the Harris family sat in the warm dining room, watching with great interest the golden-brown roast turkey that sat in the center of the table laden with sumptuous food.
"This is the turkey Hermione's parents sent over. Apparently one of his clients picked it out very carefully. I had Maggie roast it, so it should taste as good as it looks." Allen took the initiative to introduce it to his family, then turned to his older sister Daisy for help. "I'll carve it. Daisy, help me handle it."
"How strange. After all these years, this is the first time you've volunteered to work..." Daisy raised the fork in her hand with great interest and walked over.
"Allen doesn't know how to carve a turkey?" Fleur leaned over curiously.
The family all sat around the table, waiting for Allen's first attempt at dividing up a turkey. Lenn, sitting beside Allen, folded his arms and smiled as he watched Allen, who was always so capable in handling things, hold his knife and fork while waiting for Daisy to help.
Anka stood on Allen's shoulder. Sensing everyone's mood, its round little eyes looked at the poultry on the table before it, and it gently pecked Allen's ear— it wanted some too. For a carnivorous bird like it, there was no psychological resistance at all to eating birds.
