Evenly Matched

"Heh, you saw right through me." Vegeta struggled to his feet. "Now's your chance to kill me. Go ahead."

At those words, King Vegeta hurriedly stepped in front of Vegeta, watching Galdo warily.

"Father, it's no use. This is between Galdo and me. Get out of my way!" Vegeta snapped. Why couldn't his old man be a little more calculating?

Couldn't he tell I was putting on an act?

If he really angered Galdo, the guy might just kill him.

Then would I save him or not?

If I did, my true strength would be completely exposed. If I didn't, I wouldn't have the heart to watch him die.

Galdo looked from Vegeta to King Vegeta, rubbed his nose, and said with a smile, "Don't worry. How could I bear to kill you? It's not every day I find such a worthy opponent. I'm delighted."

Hearing Galdo's words, King Vegeta finally breathed a sigh of relief and quietly moved aside.

"As for you, King Vegeta, you've got some nerve." Galdo's expression abruptly turned cold, his gaze piercing King Vegeta like a double-edged sword. "This is between your son and me. Before the battle began, I made it clear that no one was to interfere. Heh, tell me, how should I punish you?"

"I... I... I..." King Vegeta was utterly terrified by Galdo's overwhelming presence.

"Die." A red blast of energy shot from Galdo's hand, hurtling straight toward King Vegeta.

King Vegeta's expression changed drastically, but he was nowhere near fast enough to dodge the powerful blast.

At that critical moment, Vegeta lunged forward and knocked King Vegeta aside.

Squelch...

The red blast pierced straight through the left side of Vegeta's chest and flew off into the distance.

"Cough..." Vegeta spat out another mouthful of blood.

Horrified, King Vegeta hurried over to support his son. His face turned ashen as he glared hatefully at Galdo, at this terrifying enemy.

"What a shame." Galdo shook his head regretfully. "I meant to kill you, but your son saved you. Fine, I'll spare you for today. Vegeta, I know an injury like that won't kill you. I'll come back for you in ten days."

With that, Galdo paid the father and son no further attention. He turned and flew toward his spaceship.

Boom!

The spaceship rose into the sky and vanished into the vast reaches of space.

Only then did King Vegeta frantically order the others, "Hurry over here and take the prince to the treatment room!"

"No need. I can get there myself!" Vegeta told King Vegeta. With that, he flew unsteadily toward the palace.

King Vegeta's eyes widened.

The Saiyans approaching from behind were equally astonished.

The young prince could still fly despite such a serious injury? And where was he going?

While everyone was still puzzling over it, Vegeta had already entered the palace and returned to his quarters.

Taking a deep breath, Vegeta curved his lips into an elegant smile.
