Background / History
Broly is Paragus's son. His extraordinary power was apparent in infancy: at one year old, he already had 10,000 combat power. Recognizing both his danger and his capacity for kindness, Lynx secured authority over his future and chose to raise him rather than execute or exile him. Broly became immediately obedient toward Lynx. 5 6
Lynx entrusted Broly to the Namekians for five years. Although Broly was generally affectionate and well-behaved, danger could trigger uncontrollable berserk episodes; by his second year on Namek, a frenzied Broly was already stronger than Nail. Lynx had the Namekian Dragon create the Flute of Serenity, allowing the Grand Elder's people to calm him and avoid repeated disasters. 7
By the end of his stay on Namek, Broly had learned to control his rage and had formed close bonds with Nail and the Namekians. He returned with Lynx to Planet Vegeta, but the Saiyans' constant challenges and competitive culture made him increasingly unhappy. Lynx ultimately relocated him to Kami's Lookout on Earth, where the calm environment and Namekian residents better suited him. 7 11 26 27
Personality
Broly is gentle, obedient, and strongly attached to the people who care for him. He eagerly awaited Lynx's awakening on Namek, affectionately calls Nail “Uncle Nail,” and retains a close bond with his father, Paragus. 6 8 26
Unlike most Saiyans, Broly dislikes competition and unnecessary violence. He spared the defeated officers of the Turles Force, rejected Vegeta's repeated sparring demands, and later refused even Lynx's request for a practice match because he did not want to return to a life centered on fighting. 15 26 45 46
His calm disposition is hard-won. Strong danger or emotional agitation can still awaken the violent instability associated with his bloodline, though his time on Namek and the Fruit of the Tree of Might greatly improved his self-control. 7 18
Abilities & Skills
Legendary Saiyan Bloodline

- His combat power increases naturally even without formal training. 30 45

Ki Suppression and Sensing
Broly can suppress his aura so thoroughly that a scouter reads him at only 5,000 despite his actual power exceeding one million. He can also sense ki, including Lynx's changing aura beneath Namek's ocean. 7 45
- Can conceal his true strength from conventional power readings. 45
- Detected Lynx's imminent awakening through the growth of his ki. 7
Flight and Combat

- Released enough ki to immobilize four Turles Force officers before defeating them without killing them. 15
- Could follow the high-speed battle between Lynx and Turles when almost none of the other Saiyans could. 16
Relationships
- Lynx (Lin Chen) — Guardian, benefactor, and elder-brother figure. Lynx chose to raise him, placed him with the Namekians, and later entrusted him to Kami; Broly remains loyal and has served as his bodyguard. 6 8 17 27
- Paragus — Father. In this timeline, Paragus was not exiled and is portrayed as sincerely concerned for Broly's happiness rather than seeking to exploit his strength. 6 15 26
- Nail — Namekian guardian and caretaker during Broly's five years on Namek. Nail feared Broly's potential but grew fond of him and helped him learn emotional control. 7 8 11

- Kami and Mr. Popo — Caretakers at Earth’s Lookout. Kami agreed to house Broly after learning that they shared Namekian origins; their quiet lifestyle suits him. 27 39 46
Story Role / Major Arcs
Raised Away from Saiyan Society
Lynx identifies infant Broly as both a threat and a child worth protecting. He removes Broly from Planet Vegeta and leaves him in Namekian care, where Broly learns restraint rather than adopting Saiyan brutality. 5 8
Return to Planet Vegeta and the Turles Conflict
Upon returning to Planet Vegeta with Lynx, Broly immediately overpowers the young Vegeta. During Turles's occupation, he reveals a combat power of 230,000 and defeats Turles Force officers without killing them, demonstrating both his strength and his changed character. 11 16
Life as Lynx's Bodyguard
After Planet Vegeta is restored, Broly serves as Lynx's personal bodyguard and consumes a Fruit of the Tree of Might to improve his emotional stability. However, he becomes increasingly distressed by Vegeta and other young Saiyans treating him as a permanent sparring target. 17 18 26
Residence at Kami's Lookout
Lynx moves Broly to Earth, where Kami and Mr. Popo take him in at the Lookout. More than a year later, he has grown noticeably taller, dresses similarly to the Guardian, and is described as kind and transformed from his earlier self. 27 39
Refusal to Fight
Before traveling to a parallel timeline, Lynx considers sparring with Broly to prepare for another version of Broly. Broly refuses, reminding Lynx that he came to Earth to escape endless fights; Lynx recognizes the mistake and apologizes. The parallel-timeline target is explicitly a different Broly, not him. 39 45 46
