A One-Sided Battle

Earth

The wind whistled past. Goku stared at the evil yet powerful man before him and couldn't help trembling. He didn't know whether he was shaking from fear of the man's evil or from the thrill of battle!

He said to Piccolo, "Piccolo, carry Tien and Yamcha's bodies back to Kami's Lookout first. I can handle things here. There's no point in you staying!" Goku didn't consider other people's feelings at all when he spoke.

"What? Sun Wukong... Are you looking down on me? I'm King Piccolo, and you actually said I'm useless!" Piccolo glared at Goku and snapped.

"Okay, Piccolo. I'm sorry... Please protect their bodies so they can be revived later," Goku explained awkwardly.

"Hmph. They're a bunch of good-for-nothings even when they're alive." Although Piccolo said that, he still walked over to the two corpses. He slowly lifted them into the air with his ki and flew toward Kami's Lookout...

Goku watched Piccolo fly away and felt the burden lift from his shoulders. Facing Vegeta, he warmed up with leg stretches, push-ups, and sit-ups!

Vegeta said, "Well? I've treated you pretty well, haven't I? Feeling reassured? Now can you give me a proper fight?"

"No problem. Let's go!" Before Goku had even finished speaking, he was already speeding toward Vegeta.

In the sky, two figures fought at speeds too fast to see, like sketches flickering across a page. Their fists and feet landed with full force. One punched, the other kicked back! Then their fists collided, and the resulting shock waves shattered the mountains within a ten-mile radius. The cameras of the people on Earth broadcasting the fight from afar were destroyed one after another!

Back at Kame House, everyone watched the TV screen go blank and grew terribly anxious. Just then, someone knocked at the door. "Knock, knock."

Master Roshi opened the door and saw that it was his older sister, Fortuneteller Baba!

Fortuneteller Baba said calmly, "I figured you could use my help right now." As she spoke, she hopped down from her crystal ball and performed some incomprehensible magic with her hands over it. She muttered, "Gibberish, gibberish... (I don't know what to say, so just pretend this is magic.)" Gradually, images of Vegeta and Goku appeared inside the crystal ball!

Goku stood panting on top of a stone pillar, while Vegeta faced him, breathing evenly.

Vegeta laughed wildly. "Kakarot, what's wrong? Out of strength?" In truth, Vegeta hadn't been trying at all. His battle power was around 22,000. After learning how to sense and control ki just now, he could reach around 26,000 at full power! He couldn't see Sun Wukong's battle power without a Scouter, but judging by the fight, Goku's base power was probably around 5,000 to 6,000—not even a fraction of Vegeta's. Vegeta had been toying with him the whole time!

Goku smiled bitterly. "You're so strong. I trained with King Kai for a year, and I still can't hurt you!" He slowly calmed his ragged breathing and said with difficulty, "I have one more move. If I still can't beat you with it, I'll admit defeat."

"Oh? Is it a move King Kai taught you? The one you used to knock Nappa down just now?" Vegeta asked.

"That's right. It's the Kaio-ken. It can multiply my battle power."

"I just don't know if my body can take it. I already used the Kaio-ken at double strength during the fight, and it didn't hurt him at all. Next, three times... Body, you have to hold on..." Goku muttered to himself.

King Kai's Planet

King Kai said, "No, Goku. Your body won't be able to take it. It'll fall apart!"

"Kaio-ken x3!"

Red energy blazed around Goku, and its scorching heat seemed to set the air on fire! His muscles swelled, and his body trembled and convulsed uncontrollably. His battle power had risen, but his body was becoming difficult to control!

"Come on, Vegeta!" Goku shouted as he flew toward him.

Vegeta looked at Goku and thought, Not enough. Still not enough! In an instant, Goku had reached Vegeta's back and thrown a punch, but all he hit was Vegeta's afterimage. Sensing Vegeta's ki, he realized Vegeta was already behind him. Vegeta kicked, but Goku used the Kaio-ken's speed to dodge. The two chased each other through the air, but Vegeta was always one step faster than Sun Wukong! Unable to dodge, they collided fists. Vegeta didn't budge, while Goku was sent flying more than ten meters, landing on a stone pillar!

Goku gasped for breath, thinking, This is bad. I can't beat him. What do I do? He's too strong! I can't even affect him!

Vegeta looked at Goku and said, "Let's end this, Kakarot. I won't kill you. You're a worthy opponent, and I hope that one day you'll be able to match me. But it looks like that'll never happen. Ha ha ha!" Vegeta laughed wildly.

Goku said with difficulty, "I've got one last move left in me. Earth, if I lose, pray this guy doesn't destroy you!" Goku dropped into a horse stance, clasped his hands together at his waist, and began gathering a powerful energy between his palms. Blue light flashed! He chanted, "Kamehameha..." Then he shouted, "Haaa!" A thick blue beam shot toward Vegeta.

Seeing the signature move that always appeared at the end of the show, Vegeta said excitedly, "Ha ha! Let me shatter your confidence for good!" He rose slowly into the air, tilted his body, and held his hands beside his head and neck, palms facing away and fingers curled. He shouted, "Galick Gun!" A thick beam of pinkish-purple light shot toward the Kamehameha! The two beams clashed in midair. Goku poured all his ki into his beam, while Vegeta still held back!

"Four times..."

"No, Goku! The Kaio-ken x3 is already your limit. If you push it any further, your body will collapse at once!" King Kai cried out anxiously.

Goku couldn't worry about that now. The blue beam suddenly doubled in thickness and gradually began to overwhelm Vegeta. Seeing Sun Wukong's battle power rise to over 20,000, Vegeta grew excited too and poured seventy percent more of his ki into the pinkish-purple beam. As Goku watched the energy blast pushing back toward him, he shouted recklessly, "Five times..." The blue beam surged forward again! Seeing this, Vegeta shouted, "Yaaah..." and unleashed his full power. His battle power of 26,000 crushed Goku's, and the immense force shook Fortuneteller Baba's crystal ball to pieces from thousands of miles away!

When the light faded, Vegeta was breathing slightly hard. He thought, Damn it, if the system hadn't given me ten thousand battle power, I really might've lost! The Kaio-ken is insane! He suddenly remembered the reward the system had given him for completing the mission... and could barely contain his excitement...

Sun Wukong was lying half-dead in a huge crater. Once the people at Kami's Lookout and Kame House sensed what had happened, they immediately headed for the battlefield.

Gohan, Piccolo, and Krillin raced over using the Flight Technique.

The people on Kame House Island watched as Bulma tossed out a Hoi-Poi Capsule. With a "poof," a plane appeared, and Bulma piloted it, carrying everyone to the battlefield!
