Background

Wang Chen, a Chinese shop owner, transmigrates into Vegeta’s body while the Saiyan prince is traveling to Earth. Embracing Vegeta’s pride, he resolves to surpass Kakarot rather than remain the “eternal runner-up.” His arrival also coincides with the integration of the Strongest Choice System, which offers missions, power rewards, and S-Cell enhancements 1 2.

Unlike the original body’s prior owner, Vegeta retains the sensibilities of an Earthling. Although he remains harsh and kills Nappa for disobedience, he refuses to massacre Earth or kill Goku after defeating him, choosing instead to preserve Goku as a rival and training partner 8 10.

Mr. Popo detects that Vegeta’s soul and body are not fully aligned. After Vegeta defeats Frieza and survives Namek’s destruction, the system declares the original Vegeta’s lingering resentment resolved, completing the fusion and concealing the transmigration discrepancy 17 33.

Appearance

Vegeta has flame-like black hair, a muscular but proportionate build, and a combat suit redesigned by Bulma into a fitted blue bodysuit with an armor vest 10 19.

  • Initially stands 1.65 meters tall; Porunga’s wish increases his height by fifteen centimeters to 1.8 meters 25.
  • His Super Saiyan transformation gives him golden hair, green irises, and a blazing golden aura 31.
  • Super Saiyan Grade 2 greatly enlarges his muscles, while the Limit State retains a normal build with faint lightning in its aura 44 45.

Personality

Vegeta is prideful, competitive, and intensely focused on increasing his base strength. He considers powerful allies and enemies alike to be “whetstones” for his own growth, frequently belittling Goku, Piccolo, Gohan, and Trunks to force them to improve 10 23 43.

His arrogance is tempered by practicality. He recognizes when Mr. Popo is too powerful to challenge directly, negotiates for a regular Senzu Bean supply, organizes strategic responses on Namek, and keeps emergency beans available during battle 12 21 27.

Despite his domineering manner, he becomes protective of Bulma and increasingly committed to the people around him. He trains Goku and Future Trunks, protects Bulma in both timelines, and helps Future Trunks secure a future he can defend himself 38 43 47.

Abilities & Skills

Strongest Choice System

Vegeta’s system issues missions with differing rewards and supplies combat-power increases, S-Cell boosters, techniques, and later a Space-Time Technique upgrade 2 3 47.

  • Provides S-Cell boosters needed to fulfill Super Saiyan transformation requirements 2.
  • Rewards completed missions with major power increases or new abilities 10 16.
  • Can undergo repairs and withhold information about its origins, prompting Vegeta to distrust it 21 37.

Saiyan Physiology

As a Saiyan, Vegeta possesses exceptional combat potential, gains power after recovering from severe injuries, and can convert extreme physical pressure into growth 13 18.

  • Trains under up to 800 times Earth gravity before leaving for Namek 19.
  • Uses repeated regeneration and near-death recovery against Frieza to force his base combat power upward 30.
  • His S-Cells are central to his Super Saiyan transformations 2 31.

Super Saiyan Transformations

Vegeta can consciously activate Super Saiyan after the Grand Elder unlocks his potential and his S-Cells reach 100% 21 22.

  • Super Saiyan — Fiftyfold multiplier; his first transformation reaches 3 billion combat power 31.
  • Super Saiyan Grade 2 — Roughly seventyfold multiplier, trading speed for strength 39 44.
  • Super Saiyan 1 Limit State — Compresses Grade 2’s power into a faster, controlled form; reaches a ninetyfold multiplier 45.
  • His first Super Saiyan transformation initially aggravates destructive impulses, which he calms by thinking of Bulma 31.

Killing Intent Fist

A system-created combat technique that converts Vegeta’s killing intent into a sustained power multiplier without the bodily backlash associated with Kaio-ken 10 17.

  • Level 1 grants a fivefold multiplier and rises through killing intent 10.
  • At 20 million base combat power, it raises him to 100 million; later, 60 million becomes 300 million 22 30.
  • Level 2 grants a tenfold multiplier 44.

Energy Manipulation

Vegeta uses ki sensing, flight, high-speed movement, and powerful energy attacks in combat 8 9.

  • Galick Gun / Galick Cannon — His signature beam attack, used against Goku and Mr. Popo’s training puppet 9 17.
  • Big Bang Attack — Listed among his acquired techniques 10.
  • Artificial Moon — Listed as an innate Saiyan technique 2.
  • Prince Tactics — Listed among his skills, though its specific effects are not described 2.

Buu-like Regeneration

Porunga grants Vegeta Majin Buu-like self-healing at Piccolo’s request 25.

  • Restores lost limbs and even extensive bodily destruction almost instantly 30.
  • Combines unusually well with Saiyan near-death growth, allowing his combat power to rise during recovery 30.

Space-Time Technique

After Namek’s destruction, Vegeta gains the Space-Time Technique, though he initially cannot use it to locate Earth from the isolated Elf Continent 33.

  • Develops an Instant Transmission-like application that lets him move anywhere within the world he occupies 46.
  • The upgraded Greater Space-Time Technique lets him locate and cross into parallel timelines 47.
  • Its time-reversal function is limited to one minute and may fail against opponents with a large power advantage 50.

Divine and Ancient Saiyan Training

Mr. Popo teaches Vegeta to let his body respond naturally rather than relying on conscious thought, but Vegeta cannot master the method associated with Ultra Instinct 17.

  • Mr. Popo provides a training puppet whose movements Vegeta cannot initially touch or predict 17.
  • Receives sealed memories of ancient Saiyan wars and studies the path of Saiyan atavism 17 18.
  • Witnesses Yamoshi’s Super Saiyan 4 transformation in the transmitted memories, but cannot endure the full record 18.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Modified Saiyan spaceship — Rebuilt by Bulma and Dr. Briefs for travel to Namek; includes a 1000x Gravity Chamber 16 18.
  • Combat suit — Bulma’s redesigned, fitted Saiyan armor provides durability and limited defensive protection 19.
  • Senzu Beans — Arranges a supply agreement with Korin and carries beans as battlefield contingencies 12 27.

Relationships

  • Bulma — Romantic partner and principal technological ally. She modifies his spacecraft, supports his training, and accepts his relationship with Gulnara 16 37.
  • Son Goku / Kakarot — Primary rival and chosen “whetstone.” Vegeta defeats and spares him on Earth, later teaches him the Super Saiyan transformation 10 38.
  • Piccolo — Sparring partner, rival, and eventual ally against Frieza. Vegeta values Piccolo’s growth and warns him about stronger threats 13 17.
  • Mr. Popo — Divine mentor who recognizes Vegeta’s soul-body discrepancy, trains him through a puppet, and reveals the Grand Priest’s conspiracy 17 37.
  • Gulnara — Elf Queen and Vegeta’s lover. Their relationship produces a child and becomes part of an arrangement accepted by Bulma 37 39.
  • Future Trunks — His future son from a parallel timeline. Vegeta trains him to surpass the Androids and become responsible for his own future 43 47.
  • Nappa — Former subordinate. Vegeta kills him after he disobeys orders and endangers the fallen Earth fighters’ bodies 8.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Saiyan Arrival and Earth Battle

Vegeta arrives on Earth with Nappa under a system mission, selecting the option to defeat Goku for a superior technique. He kills Nappa, decisively defeats Goku, then shocks the defenders by sparing both Goku and Earth 3 8 10.

Earth Training and Namek Preparation

He pursues every available route to power: Ultra Divine Water, the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, Mr. Popo’s training, ancient Saiyan memories, and extreme gravity. He also helps prepare the group’s expedition to Namek and negotiates for Senzu Beans 11 12 17 19.

Namek and Frieza

Vegeta coordinates the group’s Dragon Ball effort, has his potential unlocked by the Grand Elder, gains Buu-like regeneration through Porunga, and battles Frieza. The struggle pushes him to Super Saiyan, after which he defeats Frieza as Namek explodes 21 25 31 32.

Elf Continent and Return to Earth

Vegeta survives the destruction of Namek and awakens on the Elf Continent, where he gains the Space-Time Technique and meets Gulnara. After returning to Earth, he learns from Mr. Popo about the Grand Priest’s conspiracy and later trains Goku to transform into a Super Saiyan 33 37 38.

Future Trunks’ Timeline

When Future Trunks arrives, Vegeta trains him in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber rather than solving the Android crisis alone. He later travels to Trunks’ future, supports the restoration of Earth, eliminates Cell, and returns to his own timeline with Future Bulma 43 46 47.
