The next day.
The first rays of the morning sun filtered through the window, spilling onto the bed. Ziye rubbed his eyes and slowly opened them.
"You're awake?"
Sun Wukong greeted him with a smile.
"Morning, Wukong!"
Ziye stretched, offered a casual greeting, and sat up from the bed. Seeing Wukong fully geared up, he asked indifferently, "Wukong, are you planning on heading out?"
"Yeah!"
Wukong nodded earnestly and explained:
"I'm going out to find food and do some training."
"Oh, right, Ziye. Didn't you say you were leaving today? I'll take you out!"
Hearing this, Ziye's expression dimmed. He was a stranger in this world; even if he left, he wouldn't know how to survive. Besides, this world was so dangerous that staying by Wukong's side was the only way to be safe for the time being!
"What's wrong, Ziye?"
Seeing Ziye suddenly fall silent, Sun Wukong walked over, his face full of confusion.
"To be honest, Wukong, I'm actually an orphan. I don't really have anywhere else to go."
Ziye lowered his head, feeling conflicted as he spoke.
"So that's how it is. In that case, just stay here with me for now. I've been living here alone ever since Grandpa passed away anyway."
Seeing how pitiful Ziye looked, Wukong's sympathy overflowed, and he said softly.
"Really? Thank you, Wukong!"
Ziye's eyes lit up. He grabbed Wukong's small hand and said excitedly.
"But if you stay here, you have to help me hunt!"
"Hunt?"
Hearing this, Ziye couldn't help but freeze. If it were ordinary hunting, it would be fine, but just thinking about the monsters Wukong faced every day made his scalp tingle!
"But, Wukong, you know how my body is..."
"It's fine, I'll train you!"
Sun Wukong patted his chest, promising.
"Alright, then I'll leave it to you!" Ziye nodded and said.
Since he was here, he might as well make the best of it. The situation couldn't be changed, so staying here wasn't a bad choice. He could gain some experience training with Wukong early on, and later, he could just cling to his leg for safety!
"In that case, let's go outside and have a spar! Let me test your skills."
"Now? Us? But..."
Ziye couldn't help but roll his eyes. Wouldn't that just be him going out to get beaten up?
"Don't worry, I'll go easy on you!"
Hearing this, Ziye felt slightly relieved, and he followed Wukong outside, where the two stood facing each other.
"Alright."
"Ziye, you can start attacking me now!"
Hearing Wukong's words, Ziye was stunned. He hadn't really fought anyone in his past life, so being told to attack out of the blue left him feeling quite hesitant.
"Stop dawdling, hurry up and attack!"
Seeing Ziye still standing there in a daze, Sun Wukong urged him on.
"Fine, then I won't hold back!"
With that, Ziye clenched his fists, ran up to Wukong, and threw a punch straight at his face.
"What are you doing?"
Taking the punch, Wukong didn't feel a thing. He rolled his eyes and asked.
"Uh..."
Seeing this, Ziye felt awkward, a metaphorical flock of crows seeming to fly over his head.
"Ziye, that's not how you fight."
Wukong shook his head, disappointed, and then lightly tapped Ziye with his palm.
Bang!
Unexpectedly, Ziye was sent flying over ten meters away, crashing into a large rock before falling unconscious.
"Ziye, are you okay?"
Seeing this, Wukong rushed over to check on him, only to find him bloodied and unresponsive no matter how much he called out.
"Oh no, I used too much force!"
Sun Wukong scratched his head, looking somewhat embarrassed.
Three days later.
"It hurts!"
Ziye rubbed his splitting head and slowly opened his eyes. He felt as if his body were about to fall apart; every inch of him ached unbearably.
"Ziye, you're awake?"
"That's wonderful!"
"I'm sorry, I went a bit too hard this time!"
Sun Wukong stepped forward, his face full of apology.
"It's alright, I can't blame you for that!"
"It's just that my body isn't up to the task!"
Ziye scratched his head, looking sheepish.
"You rest for now, I'll go get you something to eat!"
Watching Wukong's busy figure, Ziye offered a faint smile. Looking at this character he had loved so much in his previous life, he felt a sudden, complex mix of emotions.
After getting dressed, Ziye slowly walked outside. A faint, cool breeze blew past, making his body shiver twice.
"My body really is weak."
Ziye shook his head with a bitter smile.
"Huh? What's that?"
Suddenly, a cyan light in the courtyard caught Ziye's attention. Driven by curiosity, he walked slowly toward it.
Upon closer inspection, he saw the strange number "+5" glowing within the cyan orb. Curious, Ziye reached out his palm and lightly touched it.
"Ah."
A sudden warmth flooded into Ziye's body, and the unexpected rush of comfort made him let out a soft moan.
The next moment, the cyan light vanished before his eyes. To his excitement, he realized the pain in his body had disappeared, many parts of him had undergone subtle changes, and he felt an endless well of power surging within.
"This... this... could this be my cheat?"
Ziye exclaimed, his face flushed with excitement.
"Hahahaha!"
"I knew it! As a proper transmigrator, how could I not have a golden finger?"
"What's going on? Why are you laughing for no reason, Ziye?"
It seemed Ziye's voice was too loud, distracting Wukong from his cooking inside. Wukong looked at him with a puzzled expression.
"It's nothing!"
Ziye waved his hand and then spoke up.
"Wukong, let's spar again!"
"Huh? Is that a good idea? I'm afraid I might accidentally kill you this time!"
Sun Wukong scratched his head, looking somewhat embarrassed.
"Don't worry, Wukong, I'm not as weak as you think!"
Ziye smiled confidently and settled into a fighting stance. Feeling the surging power within him, he stomped his foot and lunged toward Wukong.
Seeing Ziye's sudden attack, Wukong didn't hold back either, clenching his fist and meeting him head-on.
Bang!
As their fists collided, the air rang with a sharp crack. Ziye felt a jolt of pain in his hand and was knocked back several steps before barely managing to steady himself.
Hoo!
Ziye flexed his wrist. He realized there was still a gap between his current strength and Wukong's, but he was certain that the energy orb had indeed made him much stronger.
"So you were hiding your strength before. Now, I'm going to get serious!"
