The wind howled bitterly. On the planet Fenris, white was the theme, ice and snow were the norm, and death was a daily occurrence.
A year on Fenris lasted forty months of Holy Terra. Only for a few months each year did the planet drift slightly closer to its star, granting the world a rare, fleeting summer.
A spacecraft trailing a long plume of exhaust slammed into the planet with a thunderous roar, crushing the glacier beneath it and carving out an oval impact crater.
As the smoke cleared, an eyeball-shaped vessel was revealed—a single-occupant craft.
Inside the red hatch of the ship, a five-year-old human boy with a strange hairstyle and a tail lay in deep slumber.
More than twenty years ago, another such spacecraft had descended from the heavens, landing on Fenris and bringing with it a Wolf King, the master of this world.
He had been raised by a she-wolf alongside his two lupine brothers until he encountered humanity and his foster father, earning the name Leman Russ and becoming the king of this frozen world.
Upon discovering the ship, the tribal warriors dared not delay and immediately reported the matter to their king, Leman Russ.
Hearing that a boy had appeared on the planet in the exact same manner as he had, Leman Russ felt a sense of kinship and immediately ordered his honor guard to bring the boy and his vessel to his palace.
Amidst the clamor, the little boy with the tail inside the eyeball-shaped ship stirred awake.
"What the hell! Where is this? Did the course deviate?" Once Axis regained consciousness, he found himself surrounded by a group of savages.
They were primitive in the extreme, wielding crudely forged iron weapons, while some held nothing more than sharpened wooden sticks.
They were draped in thick animal furs, and the stench of filth clinging to them was so pungent he could smell it even through the ship's hull—truly a primitive odor!
After a simple observation, Axis reached a conclusion: this was an incredibly backward planet.
It seemed he hadn't landed on Earth, but had arrived on some savage, underdeveloped world instead!
He hoped the Frieza Force wouldn't discover him, though he had no idea if they could track his ship's signal.
Logically, Frieza hadn't even sent anyone to hunt down Kakarot's ship, so he shouldn't be coming after a five-year-old child like him, right?
Having transmigrated into a Saiyan and barely escaped the soon-to-be-destroyed Planet Vegeta, he prayed nothing else would go wrong.
At the very least, let him lay low for a dozen years until he could turn into a Super Saiyan!
Just as Axis was lost in thought, a series of heavy footsteps approached.
Thump! Thump! Thump!
The ground seemed to tremble. A towering figure appeared in Axis's field of vision, standing an estimated three point six meters tall.
The man's face was as hard as if carved from stone, with two massive canines protruding from his mouth. He wore his long hair in a wild, disheveled mane, and two enormous wolves followed at his heels.
The moment he saw this giant of a man, Axis felt a sense of crisis that defied description; he sensed intense danger radiating from him!
Axis dared not hesitate and immediately tapped the Scouter worn over his eye.
Beep, beep, beep, beep!
The numbers on the Scouter flickered before settling on 1666.
A power level of 1666! He never would have guessed! The rugged man before him actually possessed a power level of 1666!
On this remote planet, that had to be the level of an absolute overlord! And he posed a massive threat to him!
He was at least 1500 points stronger than Axis, whose current power level was only 110—a low-class warrior among the Saiyans.
If this giant wanted to kill him, Axis wouldn't even have the strength to resist.
Even if he transformed into a Great Ape and increased his power tenfold, he didn't think he could win.
Hoping the man held no hostility, Axis decided to act like a stranded infant to see if he could win his sympathy.
The giant suddenly reached out and violently pried the ship's hatch open with his bare hands.
What strength! To force open a spaceship hatch with his bare hands required a power level of at least 3000.
This guy had done it with ease! And he looked completely unbothered—his physical constitution was incredible!
After ripping off the hatch, the giant spoke to Axis in a language he couldn't understand.
Axis tentatively tried to ask a question in the universal galactic tongue, but the man only looked at him with a blank expression; clearly, they did not share a language.
Leman Russ shook his head, scooped Axis up with his hands, held him high to show the surrounding tribesmen, and then beat his chest while saying something.
The surrounding savages raised their weapons high and cheered, shouting words Axis couldn't comprehend.
It wasn't until he mastered the language of Fenris later that Axis understood what Leman Russ had said:
"I have saved him. From now on, this child is my little wolf pup!"
Held by a guy with a power level over 1500 points higher than his own, Axis didn't dare move a muscle. His body stiffened, and he forced a pure, childlike smile.
He was only five years old now, so playing the part of a child shouldn't be an issue.
Wait! I am a child, damn it! There's no "playing" involved.
A gust of cold wind blew, and Axis, held high by the giant, shivered. He felt a bone-chilling cold—it was freezing as hell!
Which planet was this, anyway? The environment was brutal!
Axis craned his neck to look around, noticing that the people nearby were all burly men about two meters tall, each one looking incredibly fierce.
However, compared to the man before him, they were nothing. Their power levels looked much more normal—mere trash under 10.
If not for this giant standing here, Axis was confident he could take down everyone in this place by himself.
So, was he some kind of high-combat-power unit resulting from a genetic mutation? In the universe, mutants from certain powerful races often possessed combat power far exceeding that of their own kin.
Take, for example, the legendary Super Saiyan who appeared only once every thousand years, or Frieza's father, King Cold; both belonged to these high-combat-power mutations.
Now that his spaceship was broken, how was he supposed to go to Earth to find the Dragon Balls?
He had no idea if anyone on this backward, barbaric planet could repair his spaceship.
Inside Axis's spaceship, there were a few sets of specialized Saiyan combat suits, some Saibaman seeds stolen while fleeing Planet Vegeta, and a few Scouters; other than that, there was nothing else.
He just hoped these barbarians wouldn't break the things on his ship.
The tall man held Axis, waved to the people around them, and then brought Axis to a table laden with delicacies.
He smiled at Axis and made a gesture of eating, signaling for Axis to dig in.
Axis turned his head to look at the giant before him, then looked at the table full of food with a face full of pleasant surprise; he had been hungry for a long time.
If you're going to treat a Saiyan to a meal, then I won't stand on ceremony!
It seemed this guy with a combat power of 1666 was quite easy to get along with; he would let him provide for him for a few years first.
With his Saiyan talent for combat, surpassing him would probably only take a year or two! By then, I'll be the one looking after you.
Axis didn't hold back; he grabbed the roasted meat of some unknown animal from the table and shoved it straight into his mouth, chewing away in large bites.
He then began to devour the food on the table like a whirlwind, stuffing cheese, hard bread, roasted meats, smoked sausages, and various unknown broths into his stomach all at once.
Seeing Axis eat so much, Leman Russ was very satisfied; being able to eat was a good thing.
This kid was quite to his liking; he had arrived here in a small, single-person spaceship just like he had, and he could eat just as much as he could.
Moreover, his body was as strong as his own had been when he was a child, and this kid's physical constitution was perhaps even stronger.
Just now, while carrying the boy out, Leman Russ had discovered that the kid was unexpectedly sturdy.
Although he had small arms and legs, they were filled with a sense of power; by Leman Russ's estimation, a dozen adult tribal warriors probably couldn't handle him.
Was this kid his younger brother? Or some other relative?
The more Leman Russ thought about it, the more he felt it was possible; this kid with the tail must have some special connection to him.
"Hahaha! Look at you all, my little wolf cub can really eat." Leman Russ pointed at Axis and laughed heartily.
He had been a voracious eater when he was that age, back when he used to snuggle up to his wolf mother alongside his two wolf brothers.
"A kid who can eat this much will surely grow up to be a fine warrior."
"Great Wolf King, perhaps in the future he will be as powerful as you."
"Congratulations, great Wolf King."
However, they soon stopped laughing, as everyone realized this child was eating far too much.
In just a few short minutes, he had already consumed the rations of two or three grown men, and he showed absolutely no signs of stopping.
"Lord Russ, he... he seems to be able to eat even more than you did when you were small."
"Hahaha! It looks like this kid was starving. Go and bring out more food; let him eat his fill."
Leman Russ watched Axis with great interest and immediately ordered his men to bring out the stored provisions.
As the Wolf King of the entire planet and the lord of Fenris, was he really going to be afraid of being eaten into poverty by this kid?
