Background

Origin and arrival on Fenris

Axis was sent to conquer a primitive world immediately after birth and completed the mission at age four by using Great Ape form. After returning to Planet Vegeta and confirming the timeline, he stole advanced Saiyan and Frieza Force technology—including a spacecraft and King Vegeta's space-folding briefcase—before fleeing the planet 15.

At age five, he crash-landed on Fenris. Leman Russ forced open his ship's hatch, found the frightened child inside, and publicly adopted him as his “little wolf pup.” Axis chose to remain with Russ, intending to survive under his protection until his Saiyan potential allowed him to surpass the Wolf King 1.

Axis's first years on Fenris were defined by repeated sparring with Russ. Russ taught him that combat required observation, feints, varied technique, and tactical thought rather than simple aggression; Axis responded by treating every overwhelming opponent as motivation to improve 3 4.

Great Ape incident

Axis's ship projected artificial moonlight intended to trigger a young Saiyan's Great Ape transformation. During a spar with Russ, Axis saw the projection and transformed. Russ severed his tail after learning that it was the form's weakness, preventing Axis from devastating Fenris; the tail did not regrow afterward 7.

Imperial examination and enhancement

After meeting the Emperor, Axis challenged him with Ki and was effortlessly stopped by psychic barriers. Rather than discouraging him, the defeat gave Axis a new goal: eventually surpassing the Emperor 9 10.

The Emperor's genetic analysis identified S-Cells, a Great Ape gene, and Ki within Axis. To prevent rage from consuming him during transformation, the Emperor reinforced Axis's brain and implanted a Primarch-grade Special Brain Core. Axis also received extensive physical modifications, including the Life Forge organ, a super-heart, and reinforced muscles and bones 28 40 91.

Axis later trained with the Adeptus Custodes, defeating Caesar repeatedly until the Custodian refused further sparring. He adapted easily to tenfold gravity and used Ki to improve Caesar's combat power from 1,120 to 1,160 31 33.

Appearance

Axis was a five-year-old child when he arrived on Fenris, but the Emperor's modifications and his own Ki cultivation accelerated his physical development dramatically.

Personality

Axis is fundamentally battle-driven. He considers stronger opponents more valuable than weaker ones and views seemingly impossible fights as the best source of exhilaration and growth. His response to the Emperor's overwhelming power was not fear, but a vow to one day defeat him 10.

He prefers direct action over political maneuvering or prolonged schemes. The Emperor considers him ideal for breaking fortified positions but unsuitable for the political and strategic burdens of Warmaster command 160.

Despite his aggression, Axis is capable of restraint and responsibility. He developed control over his rage rather than surrendering to Legendary Super Saiyan instincts, spared Caesar after defeating the Custodes squad, and set restrictions on the Golden Knights' dangerous transformation levels 40 42 143.

His priorities are also strongly familial. He remains attached to Leman Russ as his adoptive father, protects Kaisa, and trains Kratos harshly because he wants his son to become an exceptional warrior 138 269.
