Axis's breathing grew ragged, yet his eyes burned ever brighter, fueled by an endless desire for battle.
The Saiyan blood within him boiled; every strike carried a wild, savage power, as if he meant to tear his opponent to shreds.
Yet Leman Russ remained composed. His movements appeared casual, yet he blocked every one of Axis's attacks with pinpoint precision, seemingly impenetrable.
"Your attacks are too straightforward, lacking variety," Leman Russ said calmly, easily parrying Axis's fist. His voice was steady, yet carried an unquestionable majesty.
Axis gritted his teeth, suddenly stepping back and sinking his stance. He clenched his fists, then launched himself into the air, spinning at high speed. His legs lashed out like a whirlwind, striking repeatedly at Leman Russ's head and chest.
"Whirlwind Kick!" Axis growled, his assault pouring down like a torrential storm.
A flicker of approval crossed Leman Russ's eyes, but he did not move a single step.
His hands danced like phantoms, accurately catching every one of Axis's kicks.
With every collision of fist and foot, dull thuds erupted in the air, and the ice beneath their feet shattered, sending shards flying in every direction.
"Not bad, this is getting interesting." Leman Russ smiled slightly, then suddenly raised his hand and struck Axis's chest with a palm.
Axis's pupils contracted as he hurriedly crossed his arms to block, but the force still sent him flying backward, sliding dozens of meters across the ice before he could barely steady himself.
His arms were slightly numb and his chest ached, but he grinned.
I underestimated this cheap foster father. His combat awareness and experience are terrifying!
"Again!" Axis shouted excitedly, charging forward once more.
This time, his attacks became more flexible and varied. He stopped mindlessly rushing in and began incorporating feints and false moves.
He pretended to throw a straight punch at Leman Russ's chest, but at the last second, he shifted his momentum, sweeping his leg toward the other's ankle.
A flash of surprise crossed Leman Russ's eyes, but he easily evaded the strike, leaping lightly into the air to trace a graceful arc before landing steadily.
"Haha, my little wolf cub is improving, but it's still not enough." Leman Russ laughed, then suddenly launched a hand-blade strike directly at Axis's shoulder.
A sharp pain flared in his shoulder, and Axis let out a muffled grunt, stumbling back several steps as he gasped for air.
"Combat is not just a contest of strength, but a clash of technique and wisdom. You must never be careless!" Leman Russ said slowly.
"Your strength is already sufficient, but your fighting style is too singular."
"Lacking variety and strategy, you must observe your opponent rather than just mindlessly attacking." Leman Russ began to coach Axis.
For his age, he was already crushing all his peers, but in terms of raw combat talent, he still lagged behind himself.
When he was Axis's age, his raw power might not have been as great, but Leman Russ could perfectly simulate anyone's combat movements just by watching them once.
He could then optimize the techniques, even calculating all of an opponent's subsequent moves to predict their next step, or even their next dozen steps.
And he could do all of this in just a few seconds of mental processing, followed by perfect physical execution.
In the dozen minutes they had been sparring, he had already figured out all of Axis's attack patterns.
He could even fully predict every move Axis might possibly unleash.
You brat, if you think I'm just some wild brute, you're dead wrong. My intellect is unmatched on this planet.
Axis took a deep breath and nodded.
Leman Russ was right; he still had much to learn. He adjusted his breathing and once again assumed a combat stance.
The battle between the two resumed, the ice field echoing with the dull thuds of clashing limbs and the sound of cracking ice.
Axis's attacks became more fluid and varied. He began experimenting with different techniques, alternating between fierce assaults, tactical retreats, and deceptive feints.
Leman Russ remained unruffled throughout. Every counterattack from the Wolf King was precise and powerful, as if he were guiding Axis to break through his own limits step by step.
Ice shards and snowflakes danced in the air as the two figures moved rapidly across the ice, like two intertwined bolts of lightning.
Yet, after only a few more rounds, Axis was knocked to the ground once again.
"I've seen enough to know your level. Let's call it a day!" Leman Russ said, shaking out his wrists.
Though they had only sparred for a few dozen minutes, he already understood how strong this kid was.
In the entire tribe, no one besides himself could be his match. This kid definitely came from the same place as him; otherwise, it would be impossible to be this strong.
"Don't get cocky, I haven't used my full power yet!" Axis growled, his eyes burning with unyielding fighting spirit.
A white light began to flare from Axis's body. Back when he was sent to a planet as a low-level warrior, he had done nothing but fight natives and practice this move.
This was a classic technique from the Dragon Ball world! Although he didn't know the secret, he just had to mimic the stance and gather all his energy to fire it off.
Axis quickly brought his hands together, palms facing each other with fingertips slightly curled, forming the classic Kamehameha starting stance.
He sank his stance, his feet planted firmly on the ice, causing the surface to crack beneath him.
A white radiance surged from within him, swirling around his body like a burning flame before rapidly converging into his palms.
"Kamehameha—HA!" Axis roared, his voice filled with immense confidence and battle intent.
As he spoke, the white light in his palms erupted, forming a dazzling beam of energy that surged toward Leman Russ with destructive force.
Wherever the beam passed, the ice was instantly vaporized, and the air filled with a scorching heat, as if the very space were being torn apart by this power.
Leman Russ's pupils contracted sharply; he had never seen such an attack before.
The energy contained within that beam made him feel a hint of danger, yet he remained unruffled.
He retreated rapidly, his feet carving two deep furrows into the ice as he crossed his arms before his chest, attempting to tank the blow directly with his formidable physique.
"BOOM!"
The beam of light slammed into Leman Russ's arms, erupting with a deafening roar.
The ice beneath Leman Russ's feet shattered instantly, and the immense impact sent him sliding backward for dozens of meters, sending ice shards and snowflakes dancing through the air like a blizzard.
Leman Russ's arms tingled with numbness, a flicker of shock flashing in his eyes; he looked down at his arms to find a faint, charred mark on his skin.
"What kind of power is this?" Leman Russ muttered, his tone laced with disbelief.
He had fought every terrifying monster on this planet, yet none had ever managed to injure him; this was the first time in years he had been wounded in battle, and by a young child at that!
Axis panted heavily, his forehead beaded with sweat.
His arms trembled slightly; that single strike had drained him of his stamina, exhausting every ounce of Qi within his body.
"That is the power of Qi!" Axis grinned, his tone filled with a hint of pride.
Although this cheapskate father of his was a mutant from a native planetary species with absurdly high combat power, he had no idea how to utilize the power of Qi.
When he unleashed his Qi, his attack power could instantly skyrocket to four or five hundred; the fact that his cheapskate father could take it head-on proved his physical constitution was truly outrageous!
He had tried his best to overestimate this mutant combatant, but it seemed he had still underestimated him slightly.
Leman Russ slowly lowered his arms, a complex look flashing in his eyes.
He had never heard of this power called Qi, but the sheer force of that strike forced him to take this unknown energy seriously; if the boy's strength had been just a little greater, it could have severely wounded or even killed him.
Taking a deep breath, Leman Russ steadied his breathing and looked up at Axis.
"Little wolf pup, I will teach you how to truly master your strength, but first, you must tell me what exactly this power of Qi is."
Leman Russ had developed a keen interest in this mysterious power known as Qi.
"No problem, I'll teach you; everyone has Qi inside them," Axis replied.
