The tide of magic surged, gales howled, and ash rose alongside flame, carrying incomparably vile power as it occupied every inch of darkness. Bloodstained hands and claws gripped blades long warped and steeped in hatred, slaughtering with abandon.
They could wait no longer. The boundless hatred spread across this realm was driving these demons toward an even more terrible hell.
Russ loosely gripped his hand axe and stared at the scene before him, rendered speechless for a moment.
He had many questions to ask and much to say, but when the words reached his lips, he could not force out even a single syllable. He could only watch as the horde of demons swept past him as mercilessly as a cold graveyard wind, charging toward that beast of ultimate evil.

The syllable had barely left his mouth before Russ forcibly swallowed it back. He realized that the question left unspoken would probably have sounded laughable. He needed only one look at what they had become to know the answer without a moment's thought.
He looked at these former paragons, now evil spirits, demons, ghosts, monsters. They had spent their lives training themselves to become humanity's first line of defense against such things, only to finally abandon everything and become the enemies they hated most.
Russ clenched his teeth as anger continued to surge
