Uchiha Qingfeng returned to the forest.
He shouted the somewhat idiotic "Shadow~ Clone~ Jutsu~," slowly forming Hand Seals: Ox—Dog—Dragon—Rat—Dog—Boar—Snake—Tiger.
Evenly distributing Chakra was way too difficult! After selling the Rusted Katana, he had come straight here to start practicing.
An entire afternoon passed. At first, there had only been a puff of smoke; now, he could barely make something human-shaped, but it still dispersed immediately.
It was still a problem of uneven Chakra distribution.
Qingfeng sat beneath a tree and silently took a swig of Master Potion. It felt like he had made little progress all afternoon. More importantly, his throat was nearly hoarse from all the shouting.
He looked up at the canopy of the tree behind him.
A tree?
Climbing trees?
Uchiha Qingfeng sprang to his feet excitedly. He had not even learned to walk yet, but he was already thinking about running.
He could not wait to try Tree Walking.
He gathered Chakra in his feet and stepped onto the trunk.
He fell straight down on his second step.
Qingfeng lay on the ground, completely unwilling to move. Was this really something humans were supposed to learn? It was fine while he was still low to the ground, but if he climbed high and fell, wouldn't that put his life in danger?
He had to seriously practice movement techniques and how to dissipate force in a fight. Otherwise, he would not even be able to master Tree Walking.
Uchiha Qingfeng went straight back to the pharmacy. He would not return to the Uchiha Clan Land for the next few days. He would train with Might Guy. No matter how he died, he absolutely could not die from a fall. This was a matter of dignity.
Sure enough, Might Guy came knocking right on time.
This time, Uchiha Qingfeng did not dawdle. He got dressed and headed out.
He even greeted the girl riding a dog as she passed by—by giving Black Maru a smack on the head.
This time, Uchiha Qingfeng did not foolishly lower his head and run. Instead, he activated his Sharingan behind Might Guy and observed how Chakra flowed through Guy's body while he ran.
So this was a Taijutsu Ninja!
Previously, Qingfeng had only known how to run. He had kept his Chakra to himself instead of using it. The first time, not only had he lost his shoes, but he had even run his feet raw.
He watched Chakra flow rapidly through Guy's body. A layer of Chakra especially wrapped around his feet like clothing. If nothing else, training like this would at least keep him from ending up covered in external injuries.
Black Maru behind him was about to catch up. Hearing the commotion, Qingfeng glanced back.
The running dog saw Uchiha Qingfeng's Sharingan as though it had seen something terrifying. It slammed on the brakes with its front paws and neck, stopping not far from Qingfeng.
Had this dog been traumatized by a Sharingan before? It looked like it had serious psychological scars.
"Qingfeng, what happened to your eyes? Did you get pinkeye?"
Uchiha Qingfeng was the first Uchiha Clan member Inuzuka Hana had ever met. She was only six years old, and no one had ever told her about the Uchiha's Kekkei Genkai. To her, everyone else was the same; only the Inuzuka Clan raised Ninja Hounds.
Seeing Qingfeng's Sharingan for the first time, she thought he had pinkeye.
Qingfeng deactivated his Sharingan. "I'm not sick."
Then he turned and continued chasing after Might Guy.
But after adding Chakra, not only was he slower than before, he also kept falling down!!!
At first, he had to keep his Chakra constantly flowing while also dividing his attention to control the Chakra in his feet.
One moment of carelessness, and he would end up face-first on the ground or flat on his back.
Behind him, Inuzuka Hana laughed mercilessly. "How can you not even walk steadily?"
"Qingfeng, you've fallen sixty-eight times already!"
When Uchiha Qingfeng smashed his nose bloody for the third time, he understood one thing: whether it was Ninjutsu, Genjutsu, or Taijutsu, none of them were easy. A Ninja was someone who could endure.
Watching Guy train tirelessly like that, Qingfeng finally understood. This was what a Ninja was.
By afternoon, they began training to walk upside down.
It was called walking, but Guy's speed was clearly about the same as when he used his feet.
Sure enough, controlling Chakra with his hands was easier. Although Qingfeng was truly inching forward on his hands, at least he had not fallen in a long while.
Training like this really seemed effective.
"Qingfeng, why aren't you wearing the Training Suit I gave you?"
Training Suit? Thinking of how skin-tight it was, he would never wear it in this lifetime.
"Because there's only one set. I was afraid of getting it dirty or tearing it, so I left it at home."
Might Guy gave another thumbs-up.
"Leave it to me! I never expected you to like it so much. I'll bring you two more sets tomorrow. Wear them without worry."
Qingfeng's feelings were complicated. This innocent, pure-hearted Guy... he really could not bear to hurt his feelings.
Night fell.
After finishing a full day of training with Guy, Qingfeng prepared to leave.
Guy stopped him.
"Qingfeng, I'm meeting a friend for Barbecue tonight. Want to come along? That friend just returned from the battlefield, and he's already a Jonin."
Uchiha Qingfeng thought for a moment. The only person Might Guy would invite him to meet was probably Kakashi Hatake.
Their fathers had known each other, and the two had entered the Ninja Academy together as classmates.
Might Guy had returned early from the front lines because he was a Taijutsu Ninja. He had always charged at the very front, fighting at close range. After being injured, he could only return to the village. By the time he had recovered, the war had already ended.
Qingfeng had not forgotten his identity. Kakashi's left eye belonged to Obito, and he was Obito's younger brother.
The relationship would be difficult to handle, so he politely declined Guy's invitation.
"I have something to do tonight, so I won't disturb your gathering."
"That really is a shame."
Although Guy seemed careless and brainless, he was never vague about what mattered to him.
He had long since asked the Third Hokage about Qingfeng's identity, and he also knew a little about the connection between his close friend Kakashi and Obito.
Obito had saved Kakashi at the cost of his life and even given him an eye. Even if Qingfeng had no talent as a Ninja, Kakashi would have taken care of him for the rest of his life.
But Qingfeng's talent was even stronger than Obito's. Guy had wanted them to meet early and clear things up, preventing unnecessary misunderstandings.
After declining Guy's invitation, Qingfeng returned to the Uchiha Clan Land.
The Clan Land guards stopped Qingfeng and told him, "A Jonin who called himself Kakashi came looking for you this afternoon. He said he was Obito's teammate."
"He waited for a while, but when he saw you still hadn't returned, he left."
Qingfeng offered a brief thanks. Kakashi was now Minato's disciple and already a Jonin. Minato Namikaze, who would soon succeed the Hokage, had still taken time out of his busy schedule to visit the younger brother of his "deceased" teammate.
Was he feeling guilty?
Unfortunately, Kakashi's guilt was not worth mentioning to Obito. It had absolutely no effect.
Today, the Third Hokage announced something.
The general meaning was that he was getting old and it was time to step down for someone more worthy. He went on and on for two whole hours.
In the end, the public only remembered one sentence: "Minato Namikaze will succeed him as the Fourth Hokage!"
It was not that becoming Hokage earned everyone's recognition; it was everyone's recognition that allowed one to become Hokage.
