After reading the scroll and Fela's final words, Sui Xiong remained silent.
With a light curl of his tentacle, he drew Fela, who was nearly burned to ashes, out of the flames. Fela had long since been exhausted to the limit; the only reason he had managed to hold on was the pain of burning, which kept him awake. The moment he left the fire, his mind immediately scattered, and he sank into deep sleep.
Sui Xiong sent a great deal of divine power into him, allowing him to recuperate slowly. Then, with a flick of his tentacle, the flames rose into the air and settled atop his head. In an instant, they blazed like an enormous bonfire, nearly dyeing the entire temple red, yet somehow harming nothing within it.
Utterly unmoved by the pain of the burning, he walked out at an unhurried pace. After leaving the temple, he swung his tentacles and bundled the entire building up, storing it inside his body.
The priestess, who had been boasting endlessly, stared dumbfounded, while the followers of the "Lord Supreme" were equally bewildered.
Before their very eyes, the temple that had been reduced to ruins vanished without a trace. In its place stood an enormous stone stele.
Several lines of square-shaped characters were inscribed upon it—characters that, in this world, no one but Sui Xiong could recognize:
Some people live, yet they are already dead. Some people die, yet they still live.
With these words, I pay tribute to the heroes who fought evil through the long years, unto the very end.
