Jiang Yun's Ambition

After listening to Dr. Brief talk at length, Jiang Yun finally told him why he had come.

Dr. Brief already knew what Jiang Yun wanted. As soon as Jiang Yun opened his mouth, the doctor pointed toward the window.

"What you're looking for is right over there!"

Jiang Yun followed Dr. Brief's finger. Thinking the item was outside the window, he got up and went over to look, but there was nothing there. This left him puzzled.

"Hahaha! Take a look on the table."

Dr. Brief burst out laughing at Jiang Yun's reaction and told him to look at the table.

Jiang Yun glanced over. Aside from a vase, there was only a box. He opened it and saw three Hoi-Poi Capsules inside. Now he understood: what he wanted was in one of the capsules.

He couldn't help feeling a little awkward. How did I forget about Hoi-Poi Capsules?

It wasn't Jiang Yun's fault. Who would have thought Dr. Brief had packed the Gravity Training Room into a capsule? A capsule with that much space wasn't cheap on the market; it would cost at least a million.

"Dr. Brief, I came mainly to pick up the Gravity Training Room. I also have another favor to ask. After you finish building the spaceship, I'd like you to build one for me too. You can deduct the cost from my share."

Jiang Yun was telling Dr. Brief about another reason he had come.

"Oh, is that all? Jiang Yun, you're a shareholder in our company now. You only need to mention a little thing like this to me. There's no need to be so formal."

Dr. Brief happily agreed. To him, it was a very small matter.

"Dr. Brief, you're my senior. I should still show you the proper courtesy."

Jiang Yun replied with a smile.

"Oh, right, Doctor. I brought you the finest food from Huayun Restaurant. I hope you like it!"

Dr. Brief knew how hard it was to get the finest food at Huayun Restaurant. The restaurant made only ten of its top dishes each day. Countless people wanted to try them and hoped the restaurant would make a few more, but Huayun Restaurant refused and stuck to its principles, as if it weren't interested in making money.

After that, this top-tier meal became the object of the wealthy's pursuit. Anyone who got to eat it was considered someone with status and prestige. If you could book one of these meals when closing a business deal, there was no deal you couldn't seal.

That had been Jiang Yun's idea, of course. As the saying went, scarcity made things precious. Only something rare could prove its value—and, naturally, the food itself was delicious too.

"Of course. Thank you for the gift!"

Dr. Brief thought it would be wonderful to enjoy such a meal after working on his research.

After that, Jiang Yun didn't linger. He returned to the Martial Alliance to try out his new training room. In his view, once he finished training, it would be time to set out into space. He had no opponents left on Earth; only in the universe could he find powerful warriors who could fight him.

It was time for Earth to make contact with the universe, though he would be the first to go!

The universe was dangerous, but it was also vast and magnificent. The strong grew stronger, and the weak stayed weak. Only by striving could one survive in this world where the waves washed away the sand, and pursue the pinnacle of martial arts.

His power was still weak. Even Frieza loomed over him like a mountain. But Frieza wasn't Jiang Yun's goal. He wanted to become a True God, an immortal being. Only by becoming a god could he endure for eternity instead of vanishing into the river of time under its power.

He wanted to become a god in the truest sense, not through the shortcut Goku and the others had taken. Their transformation did extend their lifespans, but it was still more like a temporary change. Its limitations were too great for Jiang Yun to accept.

Many people in the Dragon Ball World had even said that Goku's transformation was a crooked path, and that only self-improvement was genuine. There was some truth to this, but Goku and the others faced increasingly powerful enemies, leaving them no choice but to rely on their Super Saiyan transformations again and again.

Perhaps, to Goku, enjoying a fight was what mattered most. He wouldn't mind dying for it. In fact, what Goku feared more than death might have been losing the chance to fight strong opponents.

Vegeta, on the other hand, didn't believe in talk of crooked paths. To him, any power that made him stronger was good power.

The power of Super Saiyan came from Saiyan blood. Perhaps they could follow the path of proving the Dao through strength. And given the Saiyans' love of battle, perhaps that path could work for them.

Unfortunately, Dragon Ball Super had never continued in Jiang Yun's previous life. Goku hadn't reached his peak, and Jiang Yun had never seen what happened to him afterward. The secrets of the Dragon Ball World were extraordinary even in the original story. For example, there was Yamoshi, the Saiyans' progenitor; Grand Zeno's origins; and who had ruled before Grand Zeno. Then there was the mysterious Zalama, the Dragon God, who had never appeared.

The original story had only mentioned that the ancestors of the Namekians had received Zalama's blessing and obtained a little of the Dragon God Power.

Jiang Yun didn't know whether the world he inhabited was the main universe or the world of Dragon Ball GT. But he wanted to experience all these fascinating worlds. The beings at the pinnacle of the universe, those unfathomably mysterious powers, were the ones he wanted to meet and challenge.

So Frieza was merely a hurdle on his journey through life.

Jiang Yun knew of three ways to travel to other parallel worlds. One was the Time Machine Future Trunks had used, another was the Time Ring worn by the Supreme Kai, and the last was to break through the limits of space with absolute power. In the original story, even Super Saiyan 3 could break through space, but that power was nowhere near enough to cross dimensions.

Jiang Yun guessed that reaching the Divine Realm might grant him the power to cross dimensions. But the spatial turbulence encountered during dimensional travel was another headache.

So Jiang Yun thought of another approach: studying the power of time and space. In the future, many figures from the dark side traveled between parallel timelines. Fu, for example, moved between parallel spaces, tricking powerful warriors into entering the Prison Planet so he could experiment on them.

Jiang Yun had no idea how to study the power of time and space yet, but he could use Shenron's power to understand its mysteries. Earth's Shenron was weak, but he was still quite useful for obtaining knowledge.

In the original story, Goku and the others mostly used the Dragon Balls to revive people or erase the memories of Earth's inhabitants. Jiang Yun thought that was a waste. Rather than erase people's memories, they should let them remember this painful experience and work hard to grow stronger, instead of living in the peace Goku and the others had woven for them. Earth would have to face the universe someday.
