The process of Tang San being thoroughly thrashed by Xiao Wu was witnessed by a woman.
One kilometer away from the sports field, in the Dean's suite at the highest point of the Spirit Academy.
Bibi Dong leaned against the window frame, holding a cup of cold tea in one hand, her gaze fixed on the sports field. Her perception covered the entire academy; at this distance, it was no different from watching it right before her eyes.
Twilight poured in through the window, landing on her and plating her in a honey-colored glow.
At thirty, she was at the age where a woman possesses the most charm.
Yet, heaven had been exceptionally partial to her—a cascade of ink-purple hair draped down her back, with a few stray strands framing her ears, making that face appear both alluring and dignified.
Her brows and eyes naturally carried three parts languor, three parts sharpness, and the remaining four parts were an oppressive force that made one dare not look directly at her.
She wore only a dark purple silk robe, the sash tied loosely, revealing a vast expanse of snowy, creamy skin and a deep, bottomless cleavage. The hem of the robe was slit high, and with her slight movements, a pair of straight, slender jade legs appeared and disappeared amidst the silk, filled with lethal temptation.
Dean of the Spirit Academy, level 98 Super Douluo, twin spirits.
This title was a top-tier existence across the entire Douluo Continent.
But at this moment, this top-tier figure of the continent was frowning, her expression somewhat peculiar as she recalled what she had just seen on the distant sports field.
"Strange."
She set down her teacup and tapped the windowsill twice with her fingertips.
Tang San had been beaten by Xiao Wu. This in itself was nothing unusual; she had seen students spar and fight hundreds of times in her years as Dean. What was strange was, when did Xiao Wu reach the level of a Spirit Saint?
She clearly remembered that on the roster, Xiao Wu was level 62. How could she kick a level 69 Tang San flying?
Bibi Dong thought for two seconds and concluded that she must have remembered wrong.
Such a trivial matter was not worth her attention. As long as no one was killed, it was fine.
She picked up the teacup again, took a sip, found it cold, frowned, and set it back down.
Knock, knock, knock, knock.
Four knocks sounded on the door, the rhythm steady, the force neither light nor heavy.
Bibi Dong did not turn around. Just by the way the door was knocked, she knew who it was.
"Enter."
The door pushed open. The woman who entered was about the same age as Bibi Dong, also thirty, but her temperament was entirely different.
Poseidon.
If Bibi Dong was a glass of strong liquor in the twilight, Poseidon was the sea breeze at noon. Bright, sharp, and carrying a hint of salt.
A head of silver-white hair draped over her shoulders, revealing a smooth forehead and a pair of long, narrow phoenix eyes.
Her brow bones were soft, her nose bridge straight, and her jawline clean and decisive; her entire face was sharply defined, exuding a heroic spirit. She was about the same height as Bibi Dong, but her frame was slightly broader, her shoulders held perfectly level.
She wore a dark blue tight-fitting combat uniform, with a silver belt cinched at her waist, pulling her figure in tight.
Standing there, the aura around her was a different path from Bibi Dong's.
Bibi Dong's was a silent suppression—you would be swallowed before you even reacted; Poseidon's was a gleaming blade, where one could tell at a glance that she was not to be trifled with.
Vice Dean of the Spirit Academy, level 98 Super Douluo. Her spirit was [Sea God]; when fighting in the ocean, there wasn't a single person on the entire continent who could beat her.
It was a pity the academy was on land.
"Dean Bibi Dong, I've come to discuss something with you."
Bibi Dong finally turned around, leaning against the window frame with her arms crossed over her chest, and lifted her chin: "Speak."
"Regarding the next Dean election..."
"Hasn't this been voted on already?" Bibi Dong interrupted, her tone flat and indifferent. "You lost the last duel, so I remain the Dean for the next term. What is there to discuss?"
Poseidon's temple twitched: "That last one was on land. You said it was a simple spar, so I didn't use my full strength."
"And so?"
"Let's do it again in a different place."
Bibi Dong glanced at her. That look was complex—a bit helpless, a bit amused, and even tinged with a hint of appreciation.
"Poseidon, the ocean is eight hundred miles from the academy. You want me to run that far just to spar? Should the judges all go too?" She paused, shifting into a more comfortable position. "Whatever the competition, if you don't take it seriously yourself, that's your problem. You can't blame others."
Poseidon's hands clenched inside her sleeves, then relaxed.
She knew Bibi Dong was right, which was the most infuriating part.
The room was silent for a few seconds.
Bibi Dong broke the silence first, her tone softening slightly: "Alright, stop pulling a long face. There's nothing great about being Dean—endless paperwork every day, plus a pile of student nonsense. Last month, some guy used a spirit skill to roast chicken wings in the cafeteria and burned a hole in the roof. The repair costs were deducted from my own allowance."
Poseidon didn't take the bait.
"Then, about the next Student Council President," she changed the subject. "I recommend Hu Liena."
Bibi Dong raised an eyebrow.
"Hu Liena? Qian Renxue is stepping down?"
"Qian Renxue has served three consecutive terms. There has to be a rotation."
"You know Qian Renxue's capabilities well; she has been re-elected for three consecutive terms because no one performs better than her." Bibi Dong looked at Poseidon, the corners of her mouth twitching slightly. "You are paving the way for your own student, aren't you?"
Poseidon's expression remained unchanged, but her earlobes flushed a faint red; she had been called out.
"Hu Liena's capabilities are not lacking."
"I didn't say they were." Bibi Dong pushed her teacup to the edge of the table. "For this matter, follow the formal procedure and let the senior management vote. Neither of us should interfere, lest others start gossiping."
"Fine." Poseidon turned to leave, pausing at the doorway without looking back.
"Before the next election, I will spar with you again."
"I am at your disposal anytime."
The door closed.
Bibi Dong stood before the window, watching Poseidon's silhouette disappear at the end of the corridor, and shook her head.
Meanwhile, on the tree-lined path on the west side of the campus.
The evening breeze swept through the two rows of green trees, making the fallen leaves rustle.
Two figures walked side by side along the path. Occasionally, passing students would see them and subconsciously step aside, watching them go for a long time.
Qian Renxue walked on the left.
Her long golden hair cascaded behind her shoulders, shining dazzlingly under the setting sun. She wore a white uniform jacket over a light blue shirt, a gray plaid pleated skirt, white knee-high socks, and brown Oxford shoes. Her gait was steady, her stride measured, and her rhythm constant.
Her emerald eyes looked at the road ahead, her expression indifferent—not pushing people away, but not inviting them closer either. Student Council President, three consecutive terms, level 79 Spirit Saint. Bibi Dong's personal disciple.
Hu Liena walked on the right, her pace half a beat faster than Qian Renxue's, forcing her to deliberately slow down from time to time to wait.
She had short rose-gold hair with the ends curled into waves, resting on her shoulders and chest. With an oval face and peach-blossom eyes that seemed to smile naturally, even when she wasn't, the corners of her mouth were upturned. There was an indescribable, magnetic charm about her. She wore the same uniform jacket as Qian Renxue, but with an extra button undone at the collar and her shirt sleeves rolled up. Her skirt was shorter than Qian Renxue's.
Student Council Vice President, level 79 Spirit Saint. Poseidon's personal disciple.
At Spirit Academy, mentors are required to cultivate at least one Douluo-level disciple each year; this is the hard threshold for participating in the election for Vice Dean or Dean.
Qian Renxue and Hu Liena were the trump cards that Bibi Dong and Poseidon had respectively bet on.
On the surface, the two had a decent relationship, but everyone in the academy knew they were competing against each other in private.
"Qian Renxue." Hu Liena spoke first, tilting her head to look at her.
"Hmm?"
"Tell me, which of the two mentors do you think will end up as Dean?"
Qian Renxue's pace didn't change, nor did her gaze shift. "Hard to say."
"Don't you have a preference? Dean Bibi Dong is your mentor, after all."
"A mentor is a mentor, and the Dean election is the Dean election."
Hu Liena pouted, kicking a small pebble on the roadside. "You always speak so airtight. Talking to you is really boring."
Qian Renxue finally turned her head to look at her, a faint arc appearing at the corner of her mouth.
"And yet you come to talk to me every day."
"..."
Hu Liena choked, her cheeks puffing out as she tried to find a retort but couldn't come up with the words.
The two walked for another stretch.
As they neared a fork in the road, Hu Liena suddenly stopped. "By the way, it seems something happened at the sports field today. Have you heard?"
Qian Renxue stopped. "I heard. Tang San was beaten by Xiao Wu."
"Xiao Wu? That level 62 girl with the scorpion braid? Beating Tang San? Do you believe it?"
"The facts are there; believe it or not, it doesn't matter." Qian Renxue paused, her gaze shifting toward the sports field. "What's interesting is that Xiao Wu's spirit power fluctuation didn't feel like level 62."
Hu Liena narrowed her eyes. "You noticed that too?"
"Yes."
"So, what do you think?"
Qian Renxue withdrew her gaze, not answering directly. "I don't have any particular thoughts. They're lower-grade students; there's no need to overthink it. I'm leaving."
After saying this, Qian Renxue turned toward the left fork, her back straight and her pace as steady and unhurried as ever.
Hu Liena stood in place, hands in her jacket pockets, staring at Qian Renxue's back for three seconds.
"Boring."
She muttered, then turned and walked toward the right fork.
The two figures moved left and right into the twilight, drifting further and further apart.
The night wind brushed through the sycamore trees, swirling up a few fallen leaves.
The entire Spirit Academy had no idea that the dilapidated claw machine shop outside the school gate had already begun to rewrite the fates of certain people.
