Hearing this cruel outcome, Wang Shen stared in disbelief.
He immediately asked,
"How could this happen? Did something go wrong during the ritual?"
Could it be because the rules of the two universes were different?
That shouldn't be.
The Seventh and Sixth Universes were twin universes. Their rules should have been similar.
King Sadala slowly shook his head and said gravely,
"I don't know. I followed the instructions in the ruins exactly."
"The only difference is that ever since that day, I've never left the Super Saiyan God form. I've maintained it to this day, always keeping this powerful strength."
"What?!"
At this, Wang Shen abruptly looked up at King Sadala's red eyes, his face full of surprise and shock.
There was even a hint of envy in his expression.
He'd thought King Sadala must have undergone grueling, long-term training just like him.
Then, with his natural talent, he'd managed to make Super Saiyan God his normal state.
He'd never imagined the king had used another cheat!
Damn it, if you keep playing like this, I'm really going to report you!
Perhaps he was still immersed in his grief, or perhaps he was used to it. King Sadala didn't notice Wang Shen's indignation.
He simply nodded calmly.
That only stoked the fragile resentment in Wang Shen's heart.
Wang Shen gritted his teeth, but as he watched King Sadala bow his head in sorrow,
he suddenly remembered the five Saiyans who had been reduced to shriveled corpses.
That was what it looked like when all their life energy had been drained.
The moment he thought of it, Wang Shen understood what had happened.
He looked at the grieving King Sadala, pressed his lips together, and finally decided to tell him.
"I think all of this may have happened because, under the immense pressure of the monsters' invasion, they wanted to give you enough power to wipe them all out. That's why they all chose to pass their entire life energy on to you."
"That pure, immense life energy was what enabled you to completely establish yourself in the realm of Super Saiyan God."
When he heard this, King Sadala suddenly understood. His stern, dignified face stiffened.
Shock, horror, and bitter regret mingled in his trembling red eyes.
"So that was the reason?"
"Bakbu, Herla, Ashita, Sifuda, Bote."
King Sadala slowly spoke each of the five names, his heavy voice trembling.
"You truly sacrificed yourselves for Planet Sadala."
After a long while,
King Sadala slowly breathed out, opened his eyes, and said solemnly,
"I originally thought that transforming into a Super Saiyan God required the lives of five righteous and kind Saiyans. That was why I didn't dare make the method public."
"But now I've decided to spread the method of transforming into a Super Saiyan God across Planet Sadala."
"I'll make Planet Sadala stronger, in honor of Bakbu and the others!"
King Sadala's expression was resolute. The flames seemed to blaze anew in his quivering eyes.
A single spark could start a prairie fire.
Before long, Planet Sadala's fame would surely spread throughout the universe!
Seeing King Sadala looking as though he'd reached enlightenment and suddenly brimming with ambition,
Wang Shen first froze. Then, as if he'd realized something, he hurriedly tried to talk him out of it.
"Wait, King Sadala. I don't think we need to rush into this."
"Hmm?"
King Sadala looked puzzled.
Wang Shen paused to gather his thoughts, then explained,
"King Sadala, you and I both know how powerful Super Saiyan God is. 'World-shattering' is the mildest way to describe it."
"If ordinary Saiyans, still weak and immature in their martial outlook, suddenly gained such immense power, it might not be a good thing."
"You know that Super Saiyan God isn't the end of the Saiyans' path. There's still a long road ahead."
"If those Saiyans lost themselves in their newfound strength, stopped striving, and grew arrogant and twisted, using their power to toy with the weak and innocent, how would they be any different from the monsters?"
After hearing Karotis's analysis, King Sadala came out of his impulsive state.
He realized how serious the consequences could be.
Of course, not every Saiyan would act that way.
But he knew plenty of them would end up in the situations Karotis had described.
Seeing that King Sadala had listened to him, Wang Shen couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief.
Thank goodness King Sadala was a wise ruler who was willing to heed advice.
Otherwise, if Wang Shen got in the way of his ambitions, the king would surely hold a grudge against him.
Wang Shen had another reason for stopping King Sadala from spreading the Super Saiyan God transformation.
His warning was one reason.
But mostly, he was worried that it would provoke Champa, the God of Destruction of Universe 6.
There was no shortage of righteous yet ambitious people among the Saiyans.
As a Saiyan who had once lived on Planet Vegeta, Wang Shen knew that Saiyans who suddenly gained great power might use it to invade and destroy other planets.
Then they'd proclaim themselves kings of the universe.
They'd be taking the God of Destruction's job and upsetting the balance of the universe.
Improving the overall strength of Universe 6 was certainly a good thing, but the God of Destruction was capricious and unpredictable.
Who knew if he'd feel insulted and attack Planet Sadala?
Then he'd discover that an outsider like Wang Shen had been involved in all this.
Would Wang Shen have any chance of getting out of that unscathed?
Better to do nothing wrong than risk doing something wrong.
Wang Shen smiled and said,
"So, it's best to gain strength through your own training. That's what true strength is."
Wang Shen glanced at King Sadala and added with a grin,
"Look, the Super Saiyan God power you got through the ritual can't compare to the Super Saiyan 3 form I achieved one step at a time through training, right?"
Watching Karotis's smug, obnoxious expression, King Sadala's mouth twitched violently.
All the goodwill he'd just felt toward him vanished.
If he weren't afraid of losing face in front of the Saiyans, and if he weren't weaker than Karotis, he'd drag him into another three hundred rounds of fighting.
Still...
"Hmm, you have a point."
As a king, he was at least sensible on the surface.
"Then we'll wait a while and strengthen their basic combat abilities."
"After that, I'll personally choose a group of kind Saiyans with mature minds and teach them how to transform into Super Saiyan Gods."
"As expected of King Sadala. You really do think things through."
Wang Shen nodded, deeply agreeing.
Good.
They could do whatever they liked once he'd left Universe 6.
King Sadala grumbled inwardly.
Now he was calling him King Sadala again.
Still, he'd gotten a clear picture of Karotis.
He seemed serious on the outside, but he was a shameless flirt who threw tantrums on the inside.
"Karotis, there's one more thing..."
King Sadala kept Wang Shen talking for a long time before finally letting him leave.
There was no helping it. He'd been lonely at this level for far too long.
At last, there was someone as powerful as he was. If he didn't stay up all night talking with him, that would have meant King Sadala was considerate and knew his manners.
Ah-ha!
Wang Shen strode out of the Royal Palace. He watched the setting sun teetering on the horizon, stretched hugely, and yawned.
"I'm finally out! King Sadala can talk forever!"
"It's almost evening, and King Sadala didn't even invite me to a lavish dinner. He really doesn't know how to treat a guest!"
Wang Shen was about to take off into the sky.
A delighted shout suddenly rang out nearby.
"Karotis!"
A young woman in a pink bandeau top, with much of her skin exposed, came running over in a hurry.
"You're finally out! I've been waiting for you for ages."
"Hey, Caulifla, why were you waiting for me?"
"Karotis, I want you to take me as your disciple!"
