On the morning of the third day, Hachiman went out alone for a meal. He had just sat down and was waiting for his food while checking his phone when he received a message from Karuizawa.
"Yeah, it's a girl I don't recognize. Her name seems to be..." Kei sent another message. "Hirata noticed she was following him and asked why, but she didn't answer."
Was that so?
Hachiman did have some impression of this girl.
Back during the Commander Exam against Class A, he remembered that in one of the events—abacus calculation—Class A had sent her and Katsuragi to compete.
He had also run into her recently when he was heading to Kamuro's room.
Had she gone out to gather information as well?
It seemed Classmate Sakayanagi had already understood the flaw in this exam.
Class A was being treated like a sucker.
They were being forced to spend points, and the only question now was how much. If they could make the other classes pay more, then Class A could pay less.
Still, it wasn't as though there was absolutely no hope.
That was what Hachiman had thought of while sitting in this restaurant on the Shopping Street.
Because sitting here reminded him of someone.
Nagumo, who had already been expelled.
He had occasionally seen him come to this place for breakfast in the past.
Before being expelled, Nagumo had handed his points to Asahina-senpai and made an arrangement: when the class ultimately graduated as Class A, and she had amassed twenty million points, she would buy him back into the school.
Then he would graduate together with them as a member of Class A.
Though that pleasant dream had been ruined by Hachiman Hikigaya.
Still, for Nagumo to
