Background / History

Shrek Academy has stood on the continent for ten thousand years. Its soul master foundation is described as far ahead of other powers, with high-level powerhouses emerging continuously. By maintaining neutrality, it serves as a stabilizing force among the continent’s major factions and empires 102.

Its name carries enough weight that the Iron Blood Sect immediately abandons its siege of the Tang Sect when Cao Longyan and Zhang Lexuan identify themselves as Shrek disciples. The sect master considers conflict with Shrek untenable, even for the Heavenly Soul Empire’s royal family 8.

Shrek’s Sea God Pavilion oversees major institutional decisions. During a meeting concerning Ma Xiaotao’s loss of control, Cao Longyan identifies lax teacher discipline, weak city defenses, and the Soul Guidance Department’s underdevelopment as major problems; his proposed reforms are unanimously approved 17. By Chapter 20, the Soul Guidance Department and Shrek City’s defenses have flourished under these reforms 20.

Organization

Sea God Pavilion

The Sea God Pavilion is Shrek’s senior decision-making body. Mu En allows Cao Longyan to attend and preside over a major meeting despite his age, while elders approve his institutional reforms 17.

Inner Court

The Inner Court houses the current generation of Shrek Seven Devils: Ma Xiaotao, Dai Yueheng, Ling Luochen, Yao Haoxuan, Gongyang Mo, Xixi, and Chen Zifeng 50.

Cao Longyan receives an exceptional Inner Court disciple quota while still a freshman in the Outer Court. He is designated a Martial Soul Department core disciple and a member of the next generation of Shrek Seven Devils 50.

Outer Court

Cao Longyan enrolls in the Outer Court despite qualifying for the Inner Court, intending to develop quietly and approach Huo Yuhao 35. Its freshman assessment is underway when Yan Shaozhe brings him to the Inner Court for sparring training with the Seven Devils 50.

Soul Guidance Department

The Soul Guidance Department was considered underdeveloped before Cao Longyan’s reforms 17. It later flourishes, supports upgraded city defenses, and recognizes Cao Longyan’s exceptional soul-tool talent, including his creation of a perfect Level 4 soul tool and later his eighth-rank soul engineer qualification at age thirteen 35 129.

Shrek Inspectorate

The Shrek Inspectorate conducts missions against threats such as Evil Soul Master strongholds. Xuan Zi and Zhang Lexuan lead an operation to eradicate one such stronghold, with Cao Longyan joining to gain experience for future leadership 21.

• Shrek can mobilize a large force of spirit masters; reinforcements led by Xian Lin’er and Yan Shaozhe force Zhongli Wu to abandon his plan and retreat 25.

Cao Longyan’s Awakening and Reforms

Cao Longyan awakens his Martial Soul at Shrek’s Sea God Pavilion, where Mu En witnesses his potential 1. He later participates in Sea God Pavilion governance, advancing reforms to discipline, defenses, and soul guidance development 17.

Outer Court and Seven Devils Training

Cao Longyan returns to Shrek and joins the Outer Court, becoming roommates with Huo Yuhao and Wang Dong 35. He is subsequently introduced to the Inner Court’s Shrek Seven Devils as their next-generation member and overwhelms them in sparring 50.

Elite Advanced Soul Master Academy Competition

Shrek enters the tournament with its main team heavily injured and nearly unable to field a full roster 92. Cao Longyan arrives to prevent a forfeit, fights Douling Academy alone, and secures Shrek’s victory through the Six Paths Guardian Spirits and Faceless Fire Emperor 92 93.

In the final against the Sun Moon Royal Soul Engineer Academy, Shrek deliberately withholds Cao Longyan, Huo Yuhao, and Wang Dong at first so other members can prove themselves 107. The team ultimately wins the championship 2–1 109.
