Who loved Konoha more, Hiruzen Sarutobi or Itachi Uchiha?
There was no need to think about that question. Whether everything had truly been Danzo's fault or whether Danzo had taken the blame for Hiruzen Sarutobi, Hiruzen Sarutobi shielding Danzo was an undeniable fact. On that point alone, even if his faults did not outweigh his merits, they certainly canceled each other out.
But what about Itachi Uchiha?
The matter of wiping out the Uchiha Clan in advance to prevent their rebellion from affecting Konoha was admittedly hard to wrap one's head around, but could anyone deny his love for Konoha?
Itachi Uchiha could slaughter even his own clan and parents for Konoha, while Hiruzen Sarutobi could not bear to kill even Danzo. Didn't that say enough?
Ordinary Group Owner: "In a sense, Itachi Uchiha was the one who truly carried out Hashirama Senju's convictions."
Ordinary Group Owner: "I will not yield a single step to anyone who threatens the village. Even if they are my brothers, friends, or even my own children, I will not forgive them."
Ordinary Group Owner: "Without a doubt, Itachi Uchiha truly lived up to those words."
The more Su Yunqing thought about Hiruzen Sarutobi's statement that Itachi Uchiha had viewed problems with the mindset of a Hokage since childhood, the more she felt there was nothing wrong with it. There really was nothing wrong with it.
Though his perspective had been narrow, he truly carried out the Will of Fire—moreover, the will of the First Hokage, Hashirama Senju. Other than Hashirama Senju himself, could anyone else uphold that will?
Could Tobirama Senju do it? Could Hiruzen Sarutobi? Could Minato Namikaze? Could Tsunade Senju? Could Kakashi Hatake?
Or perhaps the Pot King of Konoha, the 5.5th Hokage—Shimura Danzō—could do it. No, he actually could.
